Title: Writing Doc And Marty
Description: Who Does It Best?

After reading the lastest response to the topic on Aaron's fanfic "Doc Arrives," I found myself curious about what people thought of my take on Doc and Marty. Gradually this evolved into what people thought of ANY fanfic author's take on Doc and Marty. After all, none of us are the original creators of the characters. Sometimes, I'm sure it's hard to accurately match the basic character of the guys we see in the trilogy.
So here's the idea. Take a few of your favorite fan fiction authors and say what character you think he or she does best. I'll go first:
Kirsten Sheley: Marty. I like her Doc, but her Marty is definitely the best. Probably has something to do with the fact that he's her favorite character.
Tekva: I think she does a darn fine Clara -- level-headed, adaptable, with a touch of the Indiana Jones in her. Her Doc and Marty are good too.
Tracey: I like both Marty and Doc here. She seems to know how to best make them argue. :P And I like their reactions to the supernatural events in her fanfiction (see, I'm not the only one! Granted, she doesn't write about vampires. . . .)
Aaron: I gotta agree with everyone else in the topic, Aaron. You do a TERRIFIC Doc Brown. I especially liked the descriptions of him inventing in "Reality Check" (sorry about stealing that title again!). And hey, you do a good Tannen lineage as well. I'm talking about ALL of them, even Biff Jr in the RPG. I think Buford Tannen was the best out of all of them, though. SUCH a jackass. :buford: :griff:

I'm still very new to writing fan fic, so I can understand that I'm maybe not as detailed in my stories, as some of the other fan fic writers are.
Hot For Doc, I really do enjoy your take on Doc and Marty. It took me a little while to warm up to your vampire stories, but I've come to like them as well. Like you, I don't think Marty from the Hell Valley world would be much different from the Marty that we see in the movies - or Doc, either, for that matter. While A Pair O' Docs is one of my favourite stories by Kristen Sheley, I don't think Doc of the Hell Valley world necessarily has to be that bad. I guess it partially depends on what the mental hospitals are like in the Hell Valley world - which may be a little different from the mental hospitals in the real world.

Hot_for_Doc does a good Doc and Marty. And so does bttf4444, Kristin Sheley, Charles Murphy, Mike Mahoney, and Blind Spot.

Thanks, needles1987! I think you do a great job, as well. :) I also enjoy the stories by everyone else you've mentioned.

The only thing I don't like about Blind Spot's portrayal of Marty is giving him the chicken problem in the original timeline.

Yeah, I don't really agree with that idea either - but it's his ficverse, so... I love all the alternate takes he does in his fics.
I tend to disagree with Aaron Jenkins on more stuff, though. Like, for example, having Marty be a former wimp - and having the new Marty Jr be a jerk. There's also the thing of never having the memories update - but I know Kristen Sheley doesn't do that, either. On the positive side, though, I do love that twist he did with Jules and Verne - and I also love how he covered what happened with Doc and Clara, before Marty went back to the past.
