During the '80s, there was alot of nostalgia and revived stuff from the '50s and earlier '60s. I think partly because alot of the artists were kids then, so they updated styles they grew up with. There were alot of cover songs from that period, too.
Here's some that I think could've come out before thay actually did (not counting '70s holdover songs in the early '80s):
*I Can't Go For That - Hall and Oates
*They Don't Know - Tracey Ullman (yes, the same Tracey Ullman who had the first sketches from The Simpsons on her show)
*The Heart of Rock and Roll - Huey
*Old Man Down the Road - John Fogerty
*anything from The Stray Cats
*Do You Really Want to Hurt Me - Culture Club (in a way, it's like an updated Motownish sound)
*Kokomo - The Beach Boys
*The Longest Time - Billy Joel
Any others come to mind?
