Title: Bttf Ride Being Shut Down!

No Roads... - July 19, 2006 05:59 AM (GMT)
BTTF: The Ride @ Universal Studios Flordia is rumored to be shutting down for good as of September 1st, 2006.

:(:(:(:(

LonePineKath - July 19, 2006 06:34 AM (GMT)
:( :( No! :(

I can't believe it. I also can't believe they didn't give more notice because I know there is no way I can get there before then. :(

Thank you for passing that on.... :(

Alternate Strickland - July 19, 2006 02:15 PM (GMT)
This is sad. Now I won't have a chance to go on the ride! :(

BeanieRobert2001 - July 19, 2006 04:27 PM (GMT)
Yep, its true. The BTTF ride in USF will be closed in September. Sucks because i cant go to USF this year so i cant ride it one last time.

To me it doesnt really matter because i didnt go on the ride that much anyway because, im sorry to say, it was getting alittle boring.

If any of you have been to USF, i think we can all agree that EarthQuake should be the ride to go!

No Roads... - July 19, 2006 05:08 PM (GMT)
On further look and many phone calls, they tell me that it's closing for matinanence (nvr could spell that) and thats about it, hopefully this rumour is debunked.

Madstunts - July 19, 2006 06:03 PM (GMT)
Weren't there rumours a while ago that it was closing - I'm talking maybe a year or two?

flux capacitor....fluxing - July 19, 2006 07:16 PM (GMT)
I remember people saying it was gonna close before too.

Hope it's just a rumor.

BeanieRobert2001 - July 19, 2006 08:17 PM (GMT)
Yeah. I have heard this rumor before alot too but this one looks to be real.

One on bright side, Universal DID NOT confirm this yet. So no one knows for sure. It would be cool if it could stay for one more year so i can go on it again.

Universal doesnt really give much notice on ride closing. I went on Kong and then a few months later and i was told that Kong was closed.

So, this could just be a rumor like all the others, or this could be the real thing. We wont know anything unless Universal confirms it.

Shandy - July 22, 2006 10:23 PM (GMT)
Turns out that it is being replaced by a Simpsons Ride!!! :o :o

My favourite show is killing my favourite movie!!

I feel so dirty

Madstunts - July 22, 2006 11:51 PM (GMT)
^ You smell dirty as well! :P

Joking aside, I'm almost certainly never going to get the chance to go on this ride, but as long as it's open there's always the possibility. I guess that there hasn't been a BTTF movie in 16 years, so from an economic point of view, it might make sense to do something else. I dunno. I really hope it doesn't close. People still love the films, and the ride is unusually good.

No Roads... - July 23, 2006 03:16 AM (GMT)
Well, its officially announced.

Back to the Future the ride will start shutting down screens in two weeks, to be completely phased out by September.

Fair well BTTF: The Ride :(

Shandy - July 23, 2006 03:58 AM (GMT)
Well, we still have USH.

But, it's very sad none the less

No Roads... - July 23, 2006 06:25 AM (GMT)
I dunno if this is weird, but the whole thing has reminded me of the song "When I'm Gone" by Three Doors Down.

"So hold me when I’m here... You won’t always be there, So love me when I’m gone."

Wow, that sounds even weirder when i'm reading it... :ph43r:

LonePineKath - July 23, 2006 07:22 PM (GMT)
I'm gutted.

QUOTE (Stephen)
A nice touch may be to send copies of photographs from your family trips to Universal showing you and your family outside the Institute of Future Technology, shopping in the BTTF Gift Shop, or chatting it up with ‘Doc Brown’.  Let them know that Future fans won’t just sit back quietly and let our attraction go the same way as Ghostbusters and Kongfrontation!  As Doc Brown would say, “the future hasn’t been written yet.”

I agree with Stephen that we need to start putting our money where our mouths are and fight back. Who knows? This may not save Florida but might convince them to keep Hollywood open longer?

BeanieRobert2001 - July 23, 2006 10:33 PM (GMT)
I think USH will keep BTTF a little bit longer. USH's BTTF does much better then USF does. More people go on the one in Hollywood.

Alternate Strickland - July 24, 2006 01:13 PM (GMT)
Darn, I wish this was just a rumor! :( I hope that at least USH keeps their ride longer.

flux capacitor....fluxing - July 24, 2006 02:45 PM (GMT)
Too bad it's closing. At least USH's is still there. I hope I'll be able to ride it sometime.

BTTF ride freak - July 27, 2006 03:39 AM (GMT)
Well,at least I live in L.A. But its still terible news. USF has sunkin into an all time low. I leave you all with this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QVlJ7X0IXU...re%20the%20ride

TimeWarp1987 - August 16, 2006 03:54 PM (GMT)
Oh no! :o I'm never going to able to ride it now!

I went to Florida in 1999 and we went to The Magic Kingdom, Epcot and MGM Studios but never Universal Studios. I would have happily exchanged Epcot for Universal. I knew we should have gone there instead, it was the only reason I wanted to go to Universal Studios was because of the ride :(

I'm gutted, absolutely gutted :(

WHy?

No Roads... - October 11, 2006 01:54 AM (GMT)
There are rumours, I believe Jeffrey Weissman stated they were somewhat accurate, that they have been looking to lose USH BTTF Ride as well, but that is still not even closed to being confirmed.

heh, looking over the phone bills i spent $27.80 on phone calls to florida on my home phone, and $12.00 on my cell during June-Sept.

OKay, so Universal Studios has confirmed that as of March 30, 2007, the Back to the Future Ride will be shut down. This is only for the Florida attraction, the Hollywood and Osaka locations of BTTF the Ride will still be active.

Don't worry. The one in Hollywood might still be up.

timecircuits - July 27, 2007 10:19 PM (GMT)
That is really sad news. Ah well, lukily I've been on that particular ride so I'm ok. Shame for those who will never experience it. Where will the DeLorean and Time Train be moved to?????

No Roads... - October 7, 2007 10:35 PM (GMT)
Well, here we are... looks like Universal Studios Japan is the only place left for BTTF Riders...

Does anyone know what language the one in Japan is? Wouldn't surprise me if it were english, but i've never actually heard for sure.
