Title: The '60s And The '70s.
Description: Do you think they're alike or not?

I was just thinking about this not too long ago, and it's interesting how torn I am on the '70s.
On one hand, I think the '70s is the first "new" decade -- just in terms of general lifestyles, mindset, politics, or the stuff kids grow up with (i.e. certain toys, TV shows, music, even pinball machines, which were like very primitive video games). In other words, stuff from then may be "dated" but not really "old" per se. Plus, it already seems to be miles away from things like open racism against blacks, which was still going on around 1965ish.
However, I do sort of get the feeling they're like an updated and improved '60s. For example, weed smoking and the s*xual revolution. Even a good chunk of the classic rock feels like an outgrowth of '60s music (even if the harccore "hippie" era basically ended around 1971, from what I've observed).
Thoughts?

I don't think they are so much. I think they're a combination of the 60s and 80s. The 70s were more liberal about school dress codes than the 60s. There weren't as many hippies around in the 70s as there were in the 60s. In fact, they were already dying out by the 70s.

I love the psychedelic music and some of the colourful designs that the hippie movement brought us. I love the lava lamps, too. I'm not sure if I'd want to live in the 60s, though. The '70s are a little more enjoyable, and I was into '70s music for a long time - even though I'm starting to prefer the '80s, now.

You, like me, are born after your time.

Yeah, I remember growing up on my mother's music. Just wondering, did you pick up your musical tastes from your parents? Did you like Led Zeppelin as a little kid?

Not exactly. I didn't listen to Led Zeppelin until I was a teenager. I picked up a lot of my musical tastes from TV and Movies, actually. When I was a little kid, both of my parents mostly listened to stuff that was new in the 90s.
