Title: Music Videos

What are your favorite Music Videos?

Hoverboardkid - May 5, 2004 02:06 AM (GMT)
I like the Huey Lewis and the News one, but ZZ Top one is just plain stupid, IMO...

brendon small - May 5, 2004 02:12 AM (GMT)
I like most of Weezer vidoes, and I really like the Nirvana "In Bloom" video.

howard - May 5, 2004 02:18 AM (GMT)
Eminem does some good music videos, as well as Weird Al Yankovic, although neither have done any good ones lately.

Blind Spot - May 5, 2004 07:20 AM (GMT)
Some good songs have bad videos, and vice versa, but here's a few "good" both.

Magic - The Cars
Stay the Night - Chicago
Queen of the Broken Hearts - Loverboy
Big Crash - Eddie Money
I Lost on Jeopardy - Al Yankovic
Sharp Dressed Man - ZZ Top
Girls Wanna Have Fun - Cyndi Lauper

All of these were either funny or inventive in some way. If there's one thing in videos that makes them boring, it's shots of just the band performing on stage. Many early MTV clips did this, and even later, hard rock bands such as Bon Jovi and KISS did too.

FireTrails - May 5, 2004 07:15 PM (GMT)
"Gangsta Nation" Westside Connection featuring Nate Dogg
"Stand Up" Ludacris
"In My Life" Juvenile
"What's Happenin" Mathod Man featuring Busta Rhymes
"Slow Jamz" Twista featuring Kanye West and Jamie Foxx

Al has spent more time touring, so that's what stopped him from making videos for songs off Poodle Hat, except "Bob". Also, Eminem didn't want him to make one for "Couch Potato."

Also, factor in that his parents recently passed away (RIP) :( , so I think it's pretty unlikely he'll make any new videos for the album.

Just like 'typical' artists, usually there has to be a single for a video to be made of it. I would've liked to see the Avril Lavigne parody "A Complicated Song" made into a video, or possibly "Trash Day," as those are the most probable singles IMHO.

I would say "Ode to a Superhero" would've been up there too, but it's been a couple years since the Spidey movie came out. :) Even now, it could be slightly outdated.

As for his older videos, though, I agree his 1983-mid 90s ones were classics till the end. I still have my "Video Library" collection from '92, which had just about all his (up till then) clips. :) Not a weak one in the bunch, but I could really watch "Eat It" over and over.

Pit Bull - May 6, 2004 04:05 PM (GMT)
Eat it?
That's a bit too close to Beat It...

Hoverboardkid - May 6, 2004 05:45 PM (GMT)
I liked Ode To A Superhero, too, Blind Spot. That was a pretty good song, and the video was cool. Spiderman's awesome. Can't wait for number 2. B)

BeanieRobert2001 - May 8, 2004 02:45 PM (GMT)
"roses"-OUTKAST
"everytime"-Britney Spears (a very good video, even if you don't like her)

"my band"-D12
"yeah"-Usher (but i hate burn)

Blind Spot - May 8, 2004 04:00 PM (GMT)
^ Dude, do you like any artist from like, before 1998? They're really good, trust me. :D

Cool, I didn't even know that had a video. :D Where did you see this? I thought "Bob" was the only new video Al made for Poodle Hat.

Anyway, I liked Spiderman too, more than I thought I would.

Hoverboardkid - May 8, 2004 04:52 PM (GMT)
^They have the music video after the credits on the Spiderman tape, I'm pretty sure. I'm not sure about the DVD.

This is the musiuc Video thread and he is only 13 so I doubt he has seen any older music videos. Unless he has VH1 Classic which shows classic music videos all the time and I highly recoomend to anyone,

Blind Spot - May 9, 2004 03:24 AM (GMT)
^ OK, fair enough. :) My 13 year-old self in 1994/95 liked videos that were already way old by then, but let's drop the subject before there's any arguing. :P

Anyway, Phil Collins made some great pop/rock videos in the 80s. Has anyone seen "Easy Lover"? I really like that one, where it shows him & Philip Bailey - whom he duets with - getting ready for a video shoot. B)

BeanieRobert2001 - May 9, 2004 04:56 PM (GMT)

Even though I'm not as into newer music, I also like the videos (and songs) for Foo Fighters' "Learn to Fly" and Kid Rock's cover of "Feel Like Makin' Love."

Both of these, coincidentally, were flimed in an airplane. :)

Blind Spot - June 18, 2004 09:48 AM (GMT)
Bumpeddy bump.

I was just talking to Chris yesterday about Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar on Me". Did any of y'all see that one?

What some people don't know (me included, until recently) is that there were actually two different videos shot for it. The more popular American one featured the band playing on stage in a large arena.

The British one had them performing in a house as it was being torn down. I only saw this on their Historia VHS video comp. Any fan of the band would love that collection BTW, since it features some other rare videos/songs. B) :)

Alternate Strickland - June 18, 2004 04:16 PM (GMT)
I have also seen Def Leppard's Rock of Ages, Photograph, Foolin', and Animal videos. I think I have seen some other ones too. I love VH 1 Classic and highly reccomend it! :)

Just out of pure curiousity, has anyone here seen the Tom Petty video for "Don't Come Around Here No More?"

As I've told some of y'all, that video used to -- and to an extent, still does -- scare me. It's an Alice-In-Wonderland spinoff with giant teacups and all other sorts of weird stuff. Tom plays the mad hatter, as well.

All that, compunded with the slow-yet-loud drumming, and the "HEY!"'s repeated was what scared me when I was about 3. It came out in late '84 or early '85.

FireTrails - July 22, 2004 03:44 PM (GMT)
My new favorite music video ever is "What's Happenin'!" by Ying Yang Twins featuring Trick Daddy. That video and that song get me really pumped up and I just wanna go out and start knockin' heads.

BeanieRobert2001 - July 24, 2004 01:00 PM (GMT)

BeanieRobert2001 - July 25, 2004 01:50 PM (GMT)
^o,i forgot lose yourself.
I don't give a @#$% i never saw before mine didn't come with a DVD my D12 one did.

Blind Spot - July 25, 2004 09:12 PM (GMT)
Static breaks up the rap videos.

I just saw the video for (Sammy Hagar-era) Van Halen's medium paced pop/rock ballad "Right Now." That was another one I remember from the early 90's. It has all these Right Now, [something is going on]-type messages. It was cool to see it again. :D B)

Old rock video talk to fade back away

Alternate Strickland - July 25, 2004 09:17 PM (GMT)
I remember seeing that video on VH1 Classic about a month ago. It is a cool video and song. Thanks for bringing it up Blind Spot. :)
