Title: Big Brother
Description: Who's Watching in the UK or abroad?

LonePineKath - June 27, 2005 09:22 PM (GMT)
Hi everybody! I was just watching Big Brother 5 on E4 tonight and I was wondering who else is as sad as me & watching it? :D

I never intended to watch it but I was babysitting the night the housemates went in & got addicted! I've never watched it before (IE: BB's 1-4!)

Is it available outside the UK? Is anyone out there watching too?

I think Kamal or Maxwell will win. Any thoughts? B)

We are up to BB-5 too.

Apperently we were the first country to have sex in the big brother house in the first one, lol, what an accomplishment

THe government here is trying to ban the Big Brother Uncut version that is on late at night. It's pretty much soft porn from what I've heard.

A rather disgusting show

LonePineKath - June 29, 2005 08:13 PM (GMT)
Wow, British Big Brother is nothing like that! Nobody's had sex on ours yet - any of them! The worst that happens in ours is they have a strop over who's turn it is to cook! :o

Madstunts - June 29, 2005 10:04 PM (GMT)
I can't stand the show myself, but my housemate auditioned for it, and the bloke in front of him in the queue was the Greek guy who actually got on the show! Don't know his name, but I think he was voted out a few days ago.

I went to see my housemate queuing, and in order to find him, I had to walk the entire length of the queue. The waves of desperation from the people there was disturbing. Hundreds of people trying to be wacky for 5 hours solid. Horrible. I had to leave him, I couldn't take it.

This isn't a joke, by the way, it really was horrible.

:)

BB1 was great, it was new and exciting and fun to watch. I haven't watched BB since then. Load of rubbish in my opinion. As soon as I see an advert for the next BB, I'm like 'Oh for f**ks sake, not another series, I wish BB would just die!'. When BB finally ends, I'm gonna hold a huge party in celebration.

Madstunts - June 30, 2005 10:36 PM (GMT)
I thought it was interesting that for BB1 it was advertised as if the whole thing was some kind of sociological experiment to see how people behaved when they were under scrutiny 24/7, but by BB3 it was "Who's gonna be the first to sh@g?"

Weren't the Sun Newspaper offering money to anyone who had sex on screen?

I can't understand why anyone would spend time watching the kind of people that they would normally cross the street to avoid. There must be something I'm missing. All my housemates watch avidly. :(

Talking of sex, I heard that in one of the mainland European versions - possibly the Netherlands - the housemates were told to have a sex-amnesty, because there was so much sh*gging going on that the producers had no clean footage to broadcast!

This obviously depends on what you think happened between Saskia and Maxwell & also between Makosi and Anthony!! There was also the incident under the table between Michelle and Stuart last year and also on teen big brother a few years back!!!

LonePineKath - August 12, 2005 04:15 PM (GMT)
^ Well I posted that before the Maxwell & Saskia 'thing' but anyway, apart from that awful Teen Big Brother, nobody has 'officially' christened a Big Brother set yet!

Although I did notice this years' table is see-through! LOL!

Madstunts - August 12, 2005 09:34 PM (GMT)
I'm guessing we won't see Kath or DiscoKev on the boards tonight!
:)

deloreancrazy - August 12, 2005 09:46 PM (GMT)
Lol, they just announced the winner... its good to have a tv above the computer!

So fair we've had under-the-table, the pool incident and even worse, the Legend of John Tickle! Big Brother is getting a little too disturbing...

Why can't they do a Jack Dee and Escape more often?! I'd love to see that be the idea of Big Brother... 1984 meets The Great Escape! :D

 I wasn't on here last night but it wasn't due to BB! The final clashed with my brothers birthday!!! :o So I was out on the town and actually missed it! I did see Eugene and Anthony's exits and interviews though which seemed to be repeating when we stumbled in!

I watched the whole thing! 7:30pm-11pm (with a short beak in the middle while Big Mouth was on to talk to a dear friend who must know I love him very much to miss a whole half hour of the best gossip about the show!)

Talk about entertaining! I think even non-BB fans would have had fun watching the final! Makosi got booed for her fake 'pregnancy' and fake pool incident, Kinga got embarrassed (rightly so!) about the wine bottle incident and Eugene got an amazing crowd reception! They went wild! I was really pleased - he did well to stay (fairly) normal and (largely) true to himself.

Shandy - August 16, 2005 06:51 AM (GMT)
^ I'm sure your dear friend is happy you took the break to talk to him.

Our Big Brother finished last night.

The twins won.

Apperently they had these 2 twins, but neither of them was in the house at the same time, and the other housemates thought it was just one guy, lol!

Madstunts - August 17, 2005 12:03 AM (GMT)
My mate was saying how it would be interesting if they auditioned for a new series. People would assume that it was the same format as the previous ones, but they could change it.

All the housemates are led into a room, and the door is locked, All there is in the room is one toilet. Suddenly the lights are turned off, and a strobe starts flashing at two flashes per second. Cold water flows into the room until it's at a depth of two inches. Then, the sound of pneumatic drills and babies crying starts. The winner is the last one to go mad!
:)

I'm gonna go slightly off-topic here, but I don't really want to start another reality TV topic, so I'm hijacking this one!

Does anyone else in the UK remember a show which was on around 1996 time, in which there were teams of two people who had to run away, basically. Each team had a person tracking them, and each night they had to ring in from a public phonebox somewhere wherever they'd got to, and stay on the phone for the entire length of the program which went out live. If members of the public saw the people, they could ring in and report them.

Basicly, the longer they stayed at large, the more money they won. My then-girlfriend and I used to watch it avidly, but unfortunately it never got to a second series.

Anyone remember it?

LonePineKath - September 11, 2005 07:40 AM (GMT)
^ Not at all! Wow!

discokev - September 30, 2005 04:48 PM (GMT)
Nope, me neither, sorry!!

Am watching this season of American Big Brother! I was rooting for Amber until I learned she was a drug-addict who lied to her boyfriend about some abortions (she said she had some, but that wasn't true or something - and she also actually had a couple) and she got way too preachy. Said God sent her a vision about her and this other girl going to the final two! lol! Don't think God is in the business of dealing with silly game shows! This other girl is very "whatever happens happens for a reason because it's preordained by God." I'm not anti-Christian at all, just anti-nutty Christians. Don't think God has determined the outcome of everything himself (he knows the outcome, perhaps) otherwise that would defeat the purpose of free will, wouldn't it?

Anyway, I'm rooting for Daniele now. I can't really stand anyone else, especially her father!
