Title: Ten Of The Best - 80's Style.
Description: Favorite TV shows, songs, etc?

Blind Spot - May 24, 2005 04:41 PM (GMT)
Just to let this part of the board grow a bit, and since I love questionaires, etc. I thought we could try and think of our 10 favorite TV shows, movies, songs, video games (only applicable starting in about '86) and the like.

Of course, despite always liking the same stuff, my exact tastes change all the time, so tomorrow this could be inaccurate! ;)

I'll probably do 10 things for particular years in a future post! As for now:

MOVIES (I'm allowing 11 'cause I know BTTF is all our top choices - I'd hope!):
BTTF
Police Academy 4 (the best of the series - but I love 'em all)
Ernest Saves Christmas
UHF (Weird Al's great, lone starring role)
Uncle Buck
Ferris Bueller's Day Off (yeah I like John Hughes' stuff!)
Airplane
Honey I Shrunk the Kids
Vice Versa (one of the "switch" comedies from the late 80's)
Howard the Duck
Christmas Vacation

SONGS:
"Heart & Soul" Huey Lewis
"Be Chrool to Your Scuel" Twisted Sister
"Owner of a Lonely Heart" Yes
"Borderline" Madonna
"Refugee" Tom Petty (from '79 but was a hit in '80)
"I Wanna Know What Love is" Foreigner
"Invisible Touch" Genesis
"Born in the USA" Bruce Springsteen
"Stuck on You" Lionel Richie
"Tough all Over" John Cafferty

VIDEO GAMES:
Zelda 1 (my alltime favorite. VERY advanced for 1986 – fun yet complex).
Dragon Warrior 1
Metroid
Rad Racer
Super Mario 3
Faxanadu
Crystalis
Knight Rider
Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link
Lee Travino’s Fighting Golf

TV SHOWS (some of these are “double decaded” – say if they started in the 70’s and spilled into the 80’s, were 90’s shows that started in the 80’s):

Full House (of course this is on top! Same as on my 90's list)
Growing Pains
Miami Vice (haven’t watched it in forever, though!)
Married with Children
Police Squad (the short-lived precusor to Naked Gun)
Unsolved Mysteries
Family Matters
Simpsons (it debuted in December '89, and the skits were on the Tracey Ullman Show as early as '87)
Roseanne (it was funny in its own way, LOL)
Anything from the old days of MTV.

^ Sorry mate, I might've been unclear, hehe. ;)

I meant Nintendo games didn't come out until 1985 or '86, so they only got about 4 years of time here, while everything else gets the full decade (even stuff from '79 or '90 would be close enough).

Actually, despite the fact that I remember the late 80's clearly, I actually prefer the early and mid-part of the decade.

Anyway, it's kinda cool to break it down by section though. I like all the stuff you mentioned. :)
