Title: Most & Least Favorite Song From "sports"?

Blind Spot - May 3, 2004 05:38 PM (GMT)
Since Sports is his most popular album (from 1983/84), as well as its poster being in Marty's room, I wanted to do a poll on your most/least favorite songs from it. FYI, if any of y'all haven't heard it, the music really does sound like POL & BIT. :D In fact, here's a short breakdown of each song.

1. Heart of Rock & Roll - Medium paced pop/classic rock-ish hit, with the famous roll call of cities.

2. Heart & Soul - 80's arena rock sounding hit. Keyboard-y, slightly hard rocking and fun. Sorta like Van Halen lite.

3. Bad is Bad - Bluesier mid tempo-slow tune.

4. I Want A New Drug - A little heavier and more rocking, with a long guitar solo, almost sounding like '70s rock.

5. Walking on a Thin Line - Bass heavy medium tempo, also sorta classic rock-y pop.

6. Finally Found A Home - Like the last song, but more rocking. Marty should've sung this at some time. Just hear the lyrics, and you'll know. hehe.

7. If This is it - The biggest hit. Melodic, fun sounding semi ballad.

8. You Crack Me Up - Similar to 5 & 6, but a little faster and angrier.

9. Honky Tonk Blues - Uptempo Hank Williams cover, which is okay, but too country for a rock album.

Personally, I'd pick #2 as my fave, and #9 as my least.

As you know, I'm not a big rock fan, but Huey Lewis is an exception. I will have to go with the Heart of Rock-and-Roll. That song is great, even though I don't like rock all that much.

Heh, and even though I'm not into rap much, I like a few Beastie Boys & Hammer songs. :)

Yeah Heart of R&R is cool - even if Blender Magazine recently put it on their 50 worst songs of all time.

Actually, they put it in their "most annoyinng" songs of all time meaning that people have over played it. After awhile, any song can get annoying!

^Not true. I can listen to Stone Cold Steve Austin's theme all day long and it won't get annoying. Well, maybe that's just because I'm Stone Cold's #1 fan.
Well anyway, I don't think the Heart of RnR is annoying, but who am i to judge?

I like I Want A New Drug least because of the name.

Have you even ever head the actual song? YOu shouldn't dislike a song just because of its name. "Don't judge a book by its cover". And the word "drug" isn't always used in a negative context. <_<

Anyway, from Sports the only songs I have heard from it are Heart of Rock & Roll, I want a New Drug, and If this is it.

So my favorite that i have heard is I Want a New Drug.

Hope a small bump of this topic is OK. :)

My favourite song from Sports is "Walking On A Thin Line", closely followed by "Heart and Soul". I find both of them very catchy, and they're very good tunes. I often find myself humming them whilst pushing trolleys around at work!

My least favourite is "Bad Is Bad" - but merely because I like the other songs on the album better, not because it is a bad song.

I had a hard time picking a favourite as I love them all really on this album. However, "Finally Found A Home" will always have a special place in my heart because I do love the lyrics. They mean a lot to me. The instrumental is great too - catchy!
I'll have to pick "Bad is Bad" as the least favourite though as, even though I like it, I don't love it, unlike most of the other songs on this album.
