Title: Writers, Out Of All The Stories You've Weaved?

AARON:
What is the favorite story that you've written? I'm curious, because a lot of the time fan favorites aren't necessarily the writer's favorite. And to make it more interesting, I'm gonna make two categories:

Emotional Favorite: The one you enjoyed writing the most or the one that was written on a more personal level.

Writer/Reader Favorite: As a writer/reader, your favorite story due to concept, plot, and overall the way it plays out.

I'm not as caught up on BttF fan fics as I ought to be, so don't forget to write why the stories you chose are your favorites and maybe how you feel they stand out above your other fics.

DOC LATHROP BROWN:
I feel a bit strange doing this.

It has to be my in-production story. Too Late. I'm really enjoying it. It's a joy to write because I've finally picked a subject worthy of containing BTTF characters. The story is all BTTF, it does not take cues or help from other genres or characters. It's the kind of story that I just love, and Alternate Universes are an absolute obsession for me. Especially the 1985A that we are shown in BTTF II.

BLIND SPOT:
I've only done 4 as of now -- 2 of which were vignettes, so I don't have alot to pick from, but I digress.

1)Emotional Favorite -- Probably my new short story When Marty Met Dockie. It's pretty lighthearted, but still IMHO shows the beginning of their true friendship and caring for each other. So I guess it is a little bit serious.

2)Writer/Reader Favorite -- The most fun one for me was All You Got For Me is Lite Beer? which is the October 25th vignette where Biff wrecks George's car (in which you, Aaron, indirectly helped me improve).

I just had a ball envisioning both George and Biff's bad driving habits, seeing them at work. And especially, Mr Stricklands's brother -- their boss -- was hilarious for me to even think of. I tried to make him similar to his brother without them being clones.

TEKVA:
For me in both categories, Time of Life.

FUTURE GIRL:
This is way more interesting than reading typo-filled papers of my students.... (Should be doing that right now on my mini-prep, not doing this, shame, shame, guilt, guilt....)

1 - Emotional Favorite "No Place Like Home" was a blast to write. All those fun alternate universes.... Likewise "When Worlds Collide," my collaboration with Mary Jean Holmes. That project was neat because I'd never collabed with a writer before, and we completely fed off each other, almost racing to see who could hammer out the chapters the fastest.

2 - Writer/Reader Favorite Another tie -- "The Pair O' Docs" is something that follows me to this day. It was an intruging notion, and represented to me (the writer) a shift from simple kind of stories to more complex ones. Also, "No Place Like Home" because I felt very very proud of myself for concieving of the problem that created the malfunction for the characters. Before I even wrote it, I knew exactly what the problem was, but the characters and the audiance wasn't clued in for almost half the book.

But I love all my stories, even the bad ones. They had reasons (at the time) for being written. They're like my kids. Don't ask me to choose!

Back to work now...

-Kristen

TEKVA:
You've got a bad one?

TEMPORAL PARADOX:
Thank you, Future Girl! Every single writer should say that! I've only finished one, so I can't really answer the question.

Yeah, in many cases this is true.

Personal interest matters too, for better or worse. 'Fan Favorites' often depend on what audience they're reaching. For instance, I love fics from the original timeline - most written ones take place during the movies, of after Part 3 -- leading me to believe that's what most people favor.

As a result, someone who would've liked a nerdy George fic for its content might still favor an Eastwood timeline fic for its setting.

You? Nah, I don't think any of yours could be bad!

OUTATUNE:
Emotional Favourite:When Worlds Collide and Go Kaboom. The title sounds stupid, but it's actually one of my few fairly decent fics... and it also happens to be my only story with any time travel in it. Which is kind of pathetic, really.

Writer/Reader Favourite:They've Got Mail. It's a really fun story to write, its kind of interactive too and it's currently holding the position of the second most reviewed story on fanfiction.net... thanks guys!

To Kristen: You mean there are bad ones?

HOT FOR DOC:
Emotional Favorite: Hmmm, this is tough. I suppose the one that got the most emotional strength from me was "Dark Half." The story started scaring me by the end! The runner-up would be "Abombinable Doc."

Writer/Reader Favorite: Let me do a complete turnaround and call "Catfight" and "The Doc Hunter" some of my favorites to read. I may be an angst junkie, but I also love comedy.

JAMIE MCFLY:
Emotional Favorite: Hmmmmmm..... well I've never really written any serious stories but probably 'Brown Family Therapy'. It was first fanfic of anykind. I wrote it with my sisters. It has a lot of personal references so that's why I love it so much.

Reader/Writer Favorite: Definately 'The Twisted Editions' the funniest, most twisted Bttf you'll ever know. Some people on here have read it. I know Anakin (OUTATUNE) has!

SORA:
I should be doing homework now, but hey, this is much more fun! ^_^ So my emotional favorite and personnel favorite? That's easy.

I would say my emotional favorite would have to a be BTTF Christmas Fic entitled, "I'll be home for Christmas" when Marty meets Doc for the first time, the story was awfully emotional with some of the scenes, especially when Marty met Doc after he accidently prevented their first meeting. Some of the scenes were awfully sad to write . . . .

My personnel favorite: that would have to be my fic "Love Conquers All Time." Not to mention still editing it, it's been a blast to write, with some of things I was able to pull off and perform, I also got a ton of inspiration with talented writers giving me a few tips and pointers, not to mention a little something else that came with it, but I think I'll keep shut on that.

Emotional: Hmm, this is a hard one. Maybe I'll go with The Way We Could've Been, as it ties up all of my AUs. The spat between Doc and Marty was a little unexpected turn. Doc was under a lot of stress, so he'd be likely twist an innocent desire of how things could've been different - and make sound worse than it was intended. Of course, the make-up scene was my favourite.

Reader/Writer: Maybe Back to the Future IV. This is my take on what the fourth film could be like. I kept it within Hill Valley - and I used a lot of the same recurring gags throughout the trilogy. I figured it's only be fitting to visit 1925, and for Marty to use the "Huey Lewis" alias.

Back to the Future 4 ranks third as most read. The two above it are Like Father Like Son (where Marty Jr and Harmony go back to 1986) and Marty Wept (surprisingly enough).

The Way We Could've Been is quickly catching up - but, then again, it had 30 chapters.

I only wrote one story so far, but I like it.

bttf44 - November 13, 2007 01:28 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I do like how your story is progressing. :)

Which stories of mine do you like the best? I'm almost afraid to ask, but which do you like the least?

needles1987 - November 13, 2007 01:36 AM (GMT)
For what I like the most, I would either say That '70s Story or I Enjoy Being A Doc. I don't dislike any of your stories, but if I had to choose, I would say The Great Surprise.

bttf44 - November 13, 2007 01:42 AM (GMT)
Cool! :) Yeah, I remember you inspired me to wrie That '70s Story. I guess The Great Surprise was the ficlet where Marty becomes Calvin. Yeah, I'm probably not going to do much for that universe.
