Well, if I listed everything I'd heard of (I own like 400 CD's, and 300 tapes -- even that's not counting the same albums on both!), that would be longer than the Declaration of Independence!
Just to narrow it down a bit, I'll list a few of my favorites by decade. I'm sure I've done this before, but if you guys are anything like me, your exact tastes will change by the second. :)
50's -- Elvis, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Platters, Drifters (the latter two are more early 60's, but the 50's doo-wop sound was around up through about 1963).
60's -- Beatles, Rolling Stones, Temptations, Doors, Led Zeppelin.
70's -- Steve Miller, Boston. Fleetwood Mac (good 80's hits too), AC/DC, Bob Seger, KISS, Tom Petty (more 80's songs, but started in '76).
80's -- Huey, Loverboy, Lionel Richie, Weird Al Yankovic, Van Halen (Roth & Sammy Hagar solo included), Journey, Madonna, Ozzy, Bon Jovi, Phil Collins, Springsteen....AHH too many to possibly name! ;)
90's -- (Starting in 1991/92, it decreases, but some I like to a degree) MC Hammer, Collective Soul, Gin Blossoms, Ace of Base (only for that "I saw the Sign" song!), Offspring, Sheryl Crow.
Notice I stayed clear of Grunge?!! ;)
2000-2005+ -- Bowling for Soup, Darkness, Tsar, Michelle Branch (just a couple songs), Killers, Green Day.
PS: Both in the 50's and 60's, as well as again after 1992, I tend to like more individual songs here and there, as opposed to being a big fan of certain artists the way I am with the 70's and 80's.
I also noticed that I like 90's stuff more now than I did at the time. Back then, I was missing the 80's (well, I still am! LOL) so I might be one of the few people in history to say they felt like they were going through a mid-life crisis at age 12!

There's too many to list. I still listen to Led Zeppelin, and I still have a soft spot for Simon and Garfunkel. I also have a certain appreciation for psychedelic rock - as long as it's not Janis Joplin or Joe Cocker. My current interests, though, is primarily '80s rock music. I also have a softness for '70s and '80s pop, but I don't listen to it too often.

I'm still listening to Iron Maiden, even though I have other artists in my collection. Maybe we should continue discussing this in a PM or something

How come you havn't heard of The Black Eyed Peas, they are huge, as are Fall Out Boy, Muse, Timbaland and Linkin Park. Daughtry is from american idol so you must have heard of him, very much like Nickleback in style.
In fact if you look at my Facebook profile you could see that I have 43 artists listed. BTW anyone here use Facebook??

I can understand why you don't like Janis Joplin. (I'd take her music over Rap, R&B, and Country any day of the week though). But what exactly turns you the wrong way about Joe Cocker? Maybe it's his voice, sometimes it makes my ears uncomfortable.
bttf44 - December 18, 2007 02:07 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I don't really like Joe Cocker's voice. Alhough, I would choose him over Janis Joplin. I'm still not too fond of Bob Dylan, even though I can acknowledge that he's a good songwriter - but I used to always resent how he was more popular and well-known than Simon and Garfunkel were.
needles1987 - December 18, 2007 02:42 AM (GMT)
I like Bob Dylan. Joe Cocker sounds like he has a sore throat when he sings.
