Title: Most/least Favorite Of My Fanfics?
Description: Thoughts on anything I've ever written
Blind Spot - September 21, 2004 12:54 PM (GMT)
If the title comes off as the least bit pompous, I'm totally sorry y'all, I was just curious as to what some people thought of my own BTTF fanfics, finished or in the works.
Since I've been a writer in some way for 10+ years (even if I spent some of it "never letting anybody read my stories" much like George :o ), that kind of feedback is very welcomed to me. Whether it's good or bad, I'm all ears.
I really need to get the ball cracking on them again, as I current have a few midway through and gathering cyberdust as we speak.
If you've only read a small bit of one, that's enough. I'm just interested to know who out there is reading my stuff and how it strikes them. For the record, it doesn't even have to necesarrily be a fanfic. Even something like my BTTF-themed song parodies is fine too.
If I personally had to pick from my own work (as of 9/21/04):
FAVORITE: Old Biff's Adventures: Although my writing style has improved a bit since then (and I likely will update it in the future), I still feel most proud of this one, though it's far from perfect. It was strung together from various things I'd always thought could have happened, so in that sense, it came easy.
On the humorous side, I found it fun to write for Old Biff & Buford's meeting, as well as the more humorous lines/situations throughout. On a slightly more serious level, I liked being able to delve into Biff's 77-year life a little more and get down to the core of why he wanted to do what he did.
LEAST FAVORITE: Many would make the cut, LOL. However, I'd say my very first one -- I'm in 1985, Butthead -- takes the honors. Not that the plotting was bad, but my writing style looks like a steaming pile of manure in comparison to now.
I also am still somehow unsatisfied with Look Me Up When You Get There, which is a "what if" where Doc makes it to TP 2010 from the beginning of Part 1. To date, it's my most recent completed fanfic, and ironically it's gotten the highest number of reviews/compliments.
However, it feels rushed to me, like I didn't spend enough time with it. The plot also feels like there's not enough to it. Kristen even read/responded to it with some great suggestions (a big thanks to Kristen if you're reading this :D ;) ).
If I still have your attention now, I'm honored but shocked, LOL. :)

Ok, I'll bite! :george:
My Favourite:
I really like "All You Got For Me is Lite Beer?" and how you look into the lives of the original McFlys, especially George and how you get into everyone's heads, even Biff! And it's just interesting to look at the original 1985 and how people like Strickland's brother and some of Lorraine's siblings show up. And even old Mr. Jones and his manure truck!
Basically I like stories that are scene fillers and expand on things in the movies, so I'm looking forward to your revised version.
My Least Favourite:
And well, I don't really have one I don't like but I guess you could say I'm least interested in "I've Got a Pit Bull Now" since I don't know, I've never been all that interested in the 2015 part of BTTF, don't know why...But yeah that was the one I didn't read all the way through.
But I look forward to reading more fic from you! I really like how you write the characters and the scenes and stuff. :D

Yay! I got a response. :)
It's been months since I initally created this topic, so my own mindset might've changed a little. I've actually partly redone Lite Beer right now with a couple new scenes, and fixed up some of the dialogue, etc. To my knowledge, Chapters 1-4 are done, and I'm still working on 5-9.
Lord knows, that one has been through so many edits. It was atrocious the first time I posted it compared to now, LOL (to me at least. We're all our own harshest critics, right?).
I can agree with you about Pit Bull (I almost finished up the first section - 4 chapters - and haven't really felt a nudge to pick it up for some reason). I think the vision of 2015 loses its luster the closer we get to it. It's only 10-11 years away now, so we know that's not how it's gonna look. It's more cartoon-ish (in a nice, cool, funny way, but still). That and, I guess we don't really have a chance to get "attached" to the characters, since we're only there for 20 mins or so.
Again, thanks alot for the feedback! It's always nice to hear comments (good or bad), espeically when they're coming from an online buddy. ;)

I actually like I'm In 1985 Butthead the best. I'm very fond of reading stories of alternate takes of what might happen. Nightspore has a similar fic (George, instead of Biff) call But At My Back I Always Here. I do have to admit, though, that I'm a little confused about Biff (and George) having a future counterpart in 1985 - even ifd he was in the same time time machine as Marty. Still a very interesting take, though.

I like All You Got For Me Is Light Beer. I didn't care for I Got A Pitbull Now.
