Title: Favorite Kristen-penned Fanfic?
Description: Discuss any of 'em here.

Seeing as the rate of activity in this section is going, I doubt how many people will read this amd/or care, but -- what's your favorite Kristen fanfic? :)
I've read almost everything of hers, and so I have a very good idea on how she writes and, just on her universe in general. I have several categories and brief descriptions:
Adventurous: In Flux. Jules and Verne take the time machine from 1987 to 1982 in order to see a movie his folks wouldn't let him see (in the theatres). While interacting with a few-years younger version of their friend, Marty, they accidentally cause him not to meet Doc -- making the 1987 they return to one where it's a restored TP timeline far worse than the beginning of Part 1.:(
The boys have to enlist the (at first) unwilling help of the depressed and p*ssed-of 19-year-old Marty, who has no idea what they're talking about.
Sad: Tremors in Time. You might've heard me discuss parts of this in the time travel section at BTTF.com. It's a very long two-parter story, starting with Marty & Doc travelling back to San Francisco in 1906 and accidentally getting caught in the big SF earthquake. Meanwhile, Marty (who has recently gotten into a fight with Jennifer) befriends Jane Parker, a long lost relative of his girlfriend's, who is romantically and emotionally attracted to him. Needless to say, he's more than a little devastated that she was killed in the quake.
After they return to SF a second time (I won't say why), he decides to go into town and save her life. This ends up having disastrous consequences in their present (1986) - resulting in a post-nuclear, deserted version of Hill Valley. As depressing as that section was, I also am more than a liittle interested in how that world turned out. I won't spoil it and get into detail here (if y'all haven't read it).
Suspenseful: Ship of Dreams. Marty & Jennifer go with Doc aboard the Titannic in 1912, and overestimate the time they need to get off by. Marty also has his work cut out for him by having to retrieve a long lost item for an old relative of his aboard the ship, while Jennifer stays talking to a nice young man, which may change the course of history.
Though I put it under "suspenseful," this would also come close to tying with "sad," just because of all the death involved, and knowing that this really did happen to a bunch of people at the time.
Informative: The Underground Railroad. Okay, I really have to go back and reread this, but basically, Marty, Doc, Jennifer, the kids & Einie are in the south in the 1700's, I believe. They end up helping some slaves escape, then have to be on the lookout for their own lives and safety. I got a nice, more in-depth POV of this part of history, as well.
Believe me, it's more interesting than I'm making it sound.:D
Happy: In Due Time. No time travel involved, but simply a nice story that takes plaec in Eastwood 1998, where Marty gets to reminisce and witness the birth of his kids, through natural time.

^ No comment, hehe!! ;)
Back on topic, LOL.
P.S. I'm just saying I think she mixes good action/adventure or drama with funny and lighthearted entertainment very well. :D

i dont like her but love her stories....
no place like home: doc and marty try out docs new invention on the time train and something goes wrong and they go through a numerous amounts of alternate realitys until they finally get back to their own reality
pair o docs: the committed doc arrives in marty and docs reality and steals the time train along with clara jules and verne...marty and doc follow them through all sorts of times in the delorean trying to stop him
hill valley chronicles: what would have happened if they didnt succeed in the experiment to go back to 1985 from 1885
detour to the past: when marty accidentaly ends up in 1886 instead of 1986 and he witnesses jules's birth

As far as the story itself, I gotta agree.
It felt almost like a video game, travelling to all the different various time periods. However, as Aaron once pointed out (I think) I'm not sure if all of it was necesarry, as if they seemed like pointless trips - from a storytelling POV (even if it was entertaining and fun to us).
Even though I love time travel and all, some of it even went over my head. For instance, why was the slightly older Doc-A trying to undo what he did originally? And who was who?
Also, the fact that she's using a parallel universe theory, as opposed to the fact we know the BTTF universe operates on a single, changeable timeline.:D However, there's some stories of hers that pretty much simply had to be done this way to work, and this was one of them.
Wow. I know it sounds like I'm being harshly critical of this, but fear not - It was cool to see her vision of 2020-A and the future version of the Pleasure Paradise, etc. Like I've previously said, I really did feel sorry for Doc-A in a way, but I also kinda didn't. It would've been nice to hear about Lorraine (who could've still been alive at 82), but I suppose it wasn't really necessary.
That and De La Vega getting vomit on his jacket. :D

I really hate to say this, but I like them all! Well, I have a group of her stories I like for different reasons, but I think she's a fantastic writer overall.
No Place Like Home: I enjoyed seeing the many possibilities that could have occured had Doc and Marty's actions been different, or if something had changed to alter how they existed. This story felt as though it could have gone on for ever, and in some ways this would have still kept me reading (I'm not one for really long stories, if I'm honest). And the fact it was mainly a Doc/Marty story made me like it as well. :88:
Pair O' Docs: I've never seen Doc so evil before! Except, perhaps, in a few of Flaming Trails' on FF.net. This was one of those stories that kept you guessing, even near to the end. And even though Doc B was evil, you couldn't help but have even the slightest pang of sympathy for him. But he was still evil. :docs2:
Partners In Time: This might seem a strange choice, but I think this is the only fic I've read where Marty and Doc's friendship is really strained (correct me if I'm wrong). You can understand each character's perspectives on the actions of the other character, and their heightened suspicions of one another. Great writing.
I agree with a lot you wrote, Blind Spot, especially with the other stories I haven't mentioned here.

My favourite Kristen Fic is a real toss up between The Summer of '69 and No Place Like Home.
I love Parallel Universes, even though they aparently don't exsist in BTTF (whoops!). Although I think I may have liked The Summer of '69 in its original form.
Anyway, I really admire Kristen for putting her stories up on the net for the world to read- I've thought about doing it myself, but I don't actually have a fic to post. I did have one in the works, but something killed my old laptop and it's stuck on there. Wasn't too sure about the premise of the fic.
But enough about me! ;)
My favourite shorter fic of Kristen's is The Ripple Effect, little Marty meets Marty- cute! :D And the hard lesson Marty (the older) learns.

wow, so many good story plots.
I'm scared to admit that I haven't gotton around to Kristen's work yet.
Although I do love her photos and info on the hill valley locations tour.
I've been meaning to read a story. But where should I start?

I love the ones that deal with alternate realities:
A Pair O' Docs
When Worlds Collide (written with Mary-Jean Holmes)
No Place Like Home
I have to admit that The Summer of '69 lost me a bit - even though I love reading about the psychedelic era.
I also enjoy Future Shock and The Future Ain't What it Used to Be. Love stories about the future!
They're all good, though.
