I know he's often thought of as being the other crazy guy in town. Again, it probably is just a vocal minority who says that. I don't think he's evil at all. I mean, yes, he sure did try to shoot Marty - ut he was just trying to protect his family. I think he was very scared that the alien would harm him. He probably did get put in an institution, for claiming that an alien crashed into his barn. I'm not sure how long he'd stay, though.

The first draft for part 2 suggested that he and his wife was put there for 12 years.

Yeah, I remember that. I forgot that I had Otis Peabody in a scene of A Day of Cosmic Significant, so I had him get committed later that night. He seemed relstively harmless in that script, even though he was pretty scared. I can see George and Sherman being friends, though - but not until after November 12.

I noticed that you had Otis and Elsie be Martha and Sherman's grandparents. I guess Ma and Pa could be short for Grandma and Grandpa. Some people call their grandparents Mama and Papa.

Yeah, that's right. Otis and Elsie did seem pretty old - and the actor who played Otis was only five years younger than the age I made him.
