At my parents' apartment where I live there was a fire on the upstairs neighbors' balcony that went out of control. Which ended up with our ceiling getting huge holes broken in it, lots of water damage, and being unlivable for at least two months (though no fire damage to ours). Lots of smoke and fire trucks and whatnot; happened at 4:00 this morning about. The living room, dining room, and kitchen were most damaged. I currently smell very smokey. The apartment is certainly a wreck, like a tornado went through it! Nobody was hurt.

Thanks bttf44. I'm hoping it will turn out to be more of an inconvenience than anything. The fire seemed so small at first, I was surprised it got so bad, but apparently they think it was an electrical problem with the water heater that's outside.

The first thing I grabbed for safekeeping when I got out of the apartment into the freezing cold early morning (with shorts and sleeveless shirt and jacket - brr!) was my laptop! :P

Thanks Alt and Jemascola. We're somewhat moved into the new apartment we got through the apartment complex, though still pretty smokey-smelling.
