I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus always kinda bothered me. Who wants to hear about their mom kissing Santa? It's disturbing!

bttf44 - December 13, 2007 06:31 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I don't care for that song, either - and, in spite of the childish title, it's really not a song that's appropriate for kids.

I don't really like Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, because the melody just sounds so melancholic. Christmas songs, in my opinion, are supposed to sound cheerful.

needles1987 - December 13, 2007 06:41 PM (GMT)
The Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas I was thinking of was the version that Bert and Ernie sang in the movie Christmas Eve On Sesame Street.

bttf44 - December 13, 2007 07:13 PM (GMT)
Oh, I don't remember that one. I know there was a Sesame Street version of The Twelve Days Of Christmas, though.

For some reason, Let it Snow and Winter Wonderland makes me want to punch someone in the face.

Remember the Christmas Carol parodies we all sang as kids, like "Jingle Bells, Batman Smells" or "Joy to the World, Our Teacher's Dead"?

bttf44 - December 13, 2007 08:05 PM (GMT)
I remember the Jingle Bells Batman Smells one. I know it's followed with "Robin laid an egg", but I can never remember how the rest of it went.

I saw the funniest video on Newgrounds.com

It was a cartoon video for I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus. The dad catches the mom getting freaky with Santa and says "Off with the red suit and strip down, Sucka!" Then the mom starts to take off her red robe as music plays and Santa dances and raises his arms. Then the dad says "Not YOU!" The mom puts her robe back on and goes to bed. Then the dad starts shooting at Santa and he takes off the suit. Then the dad says "Off with the mask, buddy." Santa takes his mask off and he's really Fabio. Of course, the dad is pissed off and told him "I put the missile in mistletoe!"

I remember the Jingle Bells Batman Smells one. I know it's followed with "Robin laid an egg", but I can never remember how the rest of it went.

It goes:
Jingle Bells
Batman smells
Robin laid an egg
Batmobile lost a wheel
and the Joker got away, hey!

needles1987 - December 14, 2007 08:46 PM (GMT)
"The Joker got away" can be replaced with "The Joker took ballet"

Call me boring, but I prefer traditional Christmas carols sung choir style. I don't like it when singers stretch out the notes. I do like the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, though.

needles1987 - December 14, 2007 11:53 PM (GMT)
Aren't the Trans-Siberian Orchestra the people who play Rock and Roll but are an orchestra instead of a band?

bttf44 - December 15, 2007 12:26 AM (GMT)
That's right, yeah! Wizards of Winter has been synched to a Christmas lights show here.

needles1987 - December 15, 2007 04:15 AM (GMT)
More Christmas carols I don't like:

I saw Three Ships
Do You Hear What I Hear

bttf44 - December 15, 2007 05:09 AM (GMT)
Haha! Those two songs I actually do like! :)

I'm more of an integrational polytheist than a traditional orthodox Christian, but I still do believe that the story surrounding Jesus' birth could've really happened. I would never write a fic about Doc and Marty witnessing the birth of Christ, though - because of all the controversy it would raise. Also, not to mention the potential paradoxes - although I suppose Yahweh wouldn't allow any paradoxes to occur. Anyway, it's just best not to touch that one.

needles1987 - December 15, 2007 05:23 AM (GMT)
The reason I don't like those songs is that they quickly put me to sleep.

bttf44 - December 15, 2007 05:27 AM (GMT)
Actually, both songs make me feel a little nostalgic. :)

needles1987 - December 15, 2007 05:40 AM (GMT)
I've only went to mass on Christmas a couple of times. It was actually better than the regular mass you go to on Sundays, in my opinion.

bttf44 - December 15, 2007 05:49 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I'm not against Christianity - even though I have problems with the whole "hell" doctrine. I'm personally more in favour of the idea of reincarnation. I was always fascinated with the concept of the supernatural, which is part of why I like Back to the Future so much - so I was always intrigued with the miracles that has Jesus has performed. I guess I am sort of a Fantasy Kitchen Sink type of person. I try to be open to the concept of anything supernatural.

needles1987 - December 15, 2007 05:56 AM (GMT)
I'm not against any religion, except for Scientology, which requires pay. Worship should be free.

Some laws of Mormonism somewhat bother me. I'm not talking about their polygamy or their not being allowed to drink or swear. They believe that the gods that decide to follow Lucifer become demons, but what really bothered me was that they believe that the gods that follow Jesus became the white race and the gods that remain neutral become the black race. I just think it's kind of racist to think that.

bttf44 - December 15, 2007 06:08 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I know what you mean. At livejournal, kleenexwoman wanted me to write her a fic about body thetans - which is a Scientology concept. I decided to write it for her, and Michael J Fox was the protagonist of the story - but, yeah, I'm kind of leary of that belief.

The concept of the Pre-Adamite people is a touchy issue, as well - as some people use that to justify racism. There's an interesting story, though, about the concept of how Elohim (a group of gods) had created men, and then Yahweh created Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. I don't completely agree with the whole story - especially the part of who's affected by "original sin" - but it's a good way of putting the pieces of the puzzle together.

I usually don't like Christmas music, but there are some songs I like.
I still own a copy of Greatest Children's Christmas Hits, had on tape years ago; now got it on CD.
I just don't like Little Gray Donkey, the rest I like.

There is a parody of Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer that was done by Cledus T. Judd. His version is titled "Grandpa Got Runned Over By A John Deere"

There is a site online where you can hear of all these songs.

I'm not a huge fan christmas music... the mall I work in plays nothing but christmas music from Dec 1 until Jan 5.

Very annoying.

Anyways, two songs I enjoy are...
Run Rudolph
and that Nutcracker song, kinda has a creepy sound to it... anyone know?

No Roads... - December 18, 2007 11:01 PM (GMT)
Oh, and John Lennon's "So this is christmas"
