Title: 2015 Predictions
Description: Gee, some people have no sense of humour

A user on another board brought up the fact that, if Hilary Clinton does get elected US President in 2008 (let's not make this become a political discussion) - and then she gets relected in 2012 - then one of the 2015 predictions from BTTF2 will have come true.

Yeah, the know the future portrayed in 2015 were not true predictions, pure fantasy, yadda yadda yadda. Still, am I the only one who thinks it would be an amazing coincidence - if this did happen?

Here were some of the responses to that:

QUOTE
The only reason they had a female president in this 2015 is because they didn't believe that in 2015 there would be a female president!

So, not only this film does not predict the upcoming election,
it do the opposite...

Uh, yeah, okay, whatever. The point is, even if they didn't expect for it to really happen - there's a very good possibility that it will happen. So, if it does happen, it would be an amazing coincidence - or a twist of irony, if you prefer.

QUOTE
yeah well the newspaper also makes reference to QUEEN Diana, Im prety sure that the dead can't be ressurected, even by 2015, so that little jewel will be right.

Also, since there are only 2 sexes on the planet the odds are 50/50 that the 2015 president would be a female ( regardless of how many in the past have been male, and the fact that there hasn't been a woman president yet) just like flipping a coin.

Even though youve flipped heads the last 48 times in a row, doesnt mean that the odds are any different from 50/50 on the 49th flip.

So would I even find this a coincidence, much less an amazing prediction, not at all.

For the first part, I don't think anyone was arguing that Princess Diana could be brought back from the dead to become a queen.

For the second part, I don't think it's quite as cut and dried as that. Traditionally, the US President has always been male - so, if we do end up having a female US President in that year, then it is remarkable. Even today, that concept faces a lot of opposition.

Sheesh! I know it was made up! I wasn't ever disputing that! Some people need to grow a sense of humour - and not act like those of us who are fascinated with such coincidences somehow can't tell fact from fiction!

They actually do now have TVs that can play two shows at once. It's not very popular, because practically no one can watch two shows at once.

Yeah, and then there's also the flat TV screens. They're also coming out with soft drinks with vitamins and minerals in it, which is what Pepsi Perfect was supposed to be.

As for the female US president thing, I understand that a lot of people back in the '80s (and even some people today) feel the same way about having a woman for a president - as Doc in 1955 felt about the idea of an actor becoming the US president in 1955. They find the idea to the preposterous, so I guess the Bobs were trying to mimick that concept - because it doesn't necessarily mean they shouht it wouldn't happen.

So, yeah, it is interesting that there's a very good possibility of that becoming fact. Now, if had newspaper had explicitly stated that the female US President was a Republican, that one would be even less plausable. I know some wanted Condi Rice to consider running for US President - but Condi herself was always opposed to the idea.

Also, about the whole Queen Diana thing, I'm sure the Bobs were thinking of Princess Diana - who has now, of course, passed away. Still, it doesn't rule out the possibility of another country with a monarchy having a queen named Diana in 2015.

Yeah, I don't think we'll be seeing our hoverboards by 2015 - which is a bit of a shame, because they'd come in very handy. It would be safer than, say, riding a bike - it'd be less exhausing han walking, and you wouldn't use up so much gas (if it was of the Matel variety).

In 2008, there's going to be another actor running for President on the Republican ticket: Fred Thompson of Law & Order fame.

For awhile, it seemed like Barack Obama had a more positive reception - but it seems like more people are starting to come to like Hilary Clinton. As 2008 comes after the cut-off date in my BTTF Universe - I used 2002, simply because that's when Spin City ends - Hilary could still become the US president in 2008 in the BTTF Universe, even if Barack Obama or a Republican (which I'm really hoping against) becomes US President in "our" would.
