Title: New DeLorean
timecircuits - May 27, 2004 01:48 PM (GMT)
I was just curious to think whether anyone thinks it is a good idea if some car company re-made the DeLorean. Vote and post your ideas/reasons.

It won't let me vote - but I say yes. They should remake it though and improve it. Majorely. :o

It won't let me vote either. I think yes. A car company should re-make the Delorean time machine. Not quite sure which company maybe Holden Or Ford.

I fixed the poll so it should work now. It let me vote now.
I voted for No because I like the DeLorean the way it is. Paint or other changes would take away from the "coolness" the car already has. And the only company that would re-make the DeLorean or make new ones would be the DeLorean Motorcar Company.

Yes. Only if people wanted it.

Well, I wouldn't change the appearence either, I was mainly on about the stuff you don't see. The electrics in the car could definately do with re-designing. Everything else should stay the same. If it is re-made the company should only change the electrics, apart from that it must be an exact re-make.

I heard the DeLorean was rather defective - was this the case?
At any rate, it would be awesome to see the DeLorean remade without too many design changes. However, it would have to be reliable as a daily driver and be without any design flaws.
my 2¢

Wow that's a great idea. Someone SHOULD remake it, that would be sweet.

Yes, the DeLorean was rather defective, from what I ahve heard mainly with the electrics. Like I said above, only the electrics should be changed/upgraded so they are more reliable and a daily use car, like you said yourself.

I voted yes. The Delorean should be remade so that more people have the chance to own it. It's a fun car. The 'defectiveness' is only an even better reason to reproduce it. Today they can make it better and more reliable than ever. It sure would be nice to see some Deloreans crusing down the road.

I don't know that much about cars, but aparently, the DeLorean had a terrible engine. Even in the BTTF movies this is aparent (notice how it keeps refusing to start). I've been told by several people that lived though that time and they said it was mainly a car that looked cool. That's about it.
I said maybe. They should only remake it if they can make it look the same. They should change a whole bunch of stuff about how the car itself works, but if it doesn't look the same, then it should not be remade. :martyjr:

I don't really think that they would change the look if they remade it. I mean, the looks were (from what I've heard) the only reason that the car was bought.
Surely if they remade it then they would only change the way it ran? As people say: if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
I think a sporty company like Saab should do it. And make some with the driver's seat on the right so you can drive it in England or Australia easily.

Wait, was there ever a dout? Afcorse.

Would anyone sign a 'petition' to a car manufacturer to try and take on this challege?
I have heard from a source that Lamborghini owns the DeLorean and Ford owns Lamborghini. ALthough I will have to double check that the source was correct.
EDIT: No, i'm sure now that the DeLorean family still own the rights/patents on the car design. So it's still open on which car manufacturer would remake it.
staticrhubarb - August 30, 2005 03:17 PM (GMT)
I'd definitely sign a petition! I WANT A DELOREAN!!! (that works ;))
Dave - October 4, 2005 03:42 PM (GMT)
Would be cool if they did :P

Hey all,
I have new information about the ownership of the DeLorean rights. It turns out that DMC in Houston, US, bought the rights to the logo and everything around 2 years ago, so they are legally the DeLorean Motor Company.
So it turns out that they would have to be contacted.

After John DeLorean Died, I think that I saw a picture and a forum floating around on the web that they were going to re-make the DeLorean... I saw the pic and it looks like crap. I am going to see if I can find it for you all^^
