Title: Something Scary I Just Realized.

1980 is now as old as 1959 was in 1985. That means a song like "Call Me" or "What I Like About You" are what "Johnny B. Goode" was for BTTF 1's time.

That's just so weird and sad (even if the Eighties are alot newer/more relevant now than the Fifties were then)! :P

Ohh! I never thought of it that way! Now that is scary! :o

Did you just compare "What I Like About You" to "Johnny B. Goode"? Where do you get off??? ;)

Well, they're both good songs, but more people probably consider JBG a "classic", so I'll give ya that. :P :D

I find it ironic how Marty detested being stuck in the '50s, but he liked some aspects of it, especially the music. He must've already liked "Johnny B. Goode" to know it so well. At least in the TP timeline, I don't see George and Lorraine as big music listeners, even stuff from their time. He either discovered it on his own, or from different friends - perhaps Doc, or the Pinheads?

On that subject (and a more reassuring note): '80s MTV music still feels pretty new in the grand scheme of things. Certainly newer than Woodstock probably seemed then. I think that's because most '80s styles have at least some influences to what's around now. It's sorta the same package in a way.

Unless music gets an entirely new face, I don't think anything since 1981 will ever truly sound old.

you have a point, couse i've never thought about this. i mean i still hear lot of music from the 80's and it doesn't seem old to me, but it's true, the 80's are a bit old...lol i mean, there's been quite years from the 80's to the present right? but i just can't see'em as an old period :D

Wow! That really boggled my mind. It's amazing that 30 years really isn't all that long ago.

The '80s remind me of the simpler times of childhood! That's probably partially why I'm so adamant on the idea of Doc moving his family back to 1985 (I particularly have Jules and Verne in mind).
