BeanieRobert2001 - May 8, 2004 02:58 PM (GMT)
Is there a song that you hate that everyone loves?
"Burn"-usher...i hate this song, its stupid and eveyone likes it...
"slow jams"-Twista featuring(someone i hate so i won't say his name)
NOW LETS NOT START A FIGHT...BUT WHAT SONGS DO YOU HATE?
Blind Spot - May 8, 2004 03:55 PM (GMT)
Funny, I know I could think of tons of the opposite (stuff I like everybody hates  ), but I digress.
Anyway, please no death threats (j/k) but:
-"Rock Your Body" Justin Timblerlake - I can see why girls like him and all, but this is 10 times worse than N'sync. It's not catchy or singable, just annoying wannabe un-melodic dance/R & B music with the same high-pitched voice and annoying notes over and over.
-"Who Let the Dogs Out," Baha Men - Oh yeah, three straight minutes of one line, punctuated by "Woof woof woof" sounds some guy is making. Again, no music to speak of and a stupid song that went huge a few years ago. Just shows you how much the music industry is really dying out.
-Anything by Eminem - Enough of the white pimp rappers already. This dork is more than a little rude. He hates his own mom, and his lyrics about "b*tches" and all the violence he wants to do to them, I don't think is appropriate, even in joking context. And I'm a big joker, so that tells you something.
-"Beautiful," Christina Aguilera. OK, she and all the other teenybopper girls are still around after 5 years? This bloodless attempt at a modern pop R&B ballad makes me gag. Ok SHE might be beautiful, but the song is anything but.
Just a note on all the boyband/teen pop stuff: A few years ago I heard BSB's "I Want it that Way" on the radio. At the time, I cringed, but even though music is still is pretty much the same as 1998/99, today I practically jump with joy at hearing that very same song. It now sounds like a call from heaven compared to what's hot in 2004.

^all those songs you hate are OK to me...O well, i'm young.
I HAVE MORE:
"Tipsy"-i always forget who sings this stupid song...in the song...he counts"here goes the 1 to the 2 then the 3" then says "here goes the 4 to the 5 to the 6"...now to me,ITS STUPID...he is singing(rapping) about nothing...
the new Twista song...which since i hate him,i hate his songs
I REALLY HATE HANSON!
(I will think about more soon)

I'm not a fan of Eminem's, but I can't help liking "Lose Yourself." And "Stan" which he did with Dido. At least these have some sort of message as compared to his mindless "I'm Slim Shady" lyrics.

I like "Beautiful." :(
It was less about being physically beatiful and more about being beautiful on the inside, plus Christina didn't even write it. A less than physically beautiful person wrote it, so the heart of the lyrics is there and Christina sings it well. It's not really a song about Christina no matter what she tries to lead us to believe. -_-

Ah well, if my buddy Aaron likes it, maybe I can give it a second (less biased) listening. :)
In the past, I've been influenced by others to like things I otherwise would not have. Even though some things I've always liked (and probably always will), I have an open mind to new things.
I think sometimes we - myself included - base things on who is doing them as opposed to what it actually is. If that was sung by, say, Nelly Furtado (who sounds semi close in style), maybe I'd have taken it differently.
Also, (over)exposure always takes things down a level for me. :P For instance, around 10 years ago I hated grunge rock such as Soundgarden & Nirvana. I said it was just noise compared to the bright 80s (and earlier) music I'd grown up with, which it had helped wipe out. One big factor for this is probably because it was on MTV, the radio and at school relentlessly.
Now, though, I find myself listening to those same artists/songs again and actually enjoying them. :) It's no longer there every 5 minutes for me to hear without trying to. So listening to it now is almost like going to visit a family member or an old classmate who used to get on my nerves when I was in close quarters with them - only to suddenly find myself unexpectedly glad to be around them.
They do say "You don't know what you've got till it's gone." By that logic, maybe around 2014, my older self will be enjoying these very songs, since there'll be new ones for him to complain about.

VH1's 50 Most Awesomely Bad Songs Ever said that song above is now Number two of the list, so I guess what you wanted paid off in a couple of years.

How DARE they put Sunglasses at Night on that list! :(
*edit* And What's Up by Four Non Blondes, and We Didn't Start the Fire, and the Final Countdown, and Crash test Dummies, and We Built This City...! Geez, I figured number one would be Who Let the Dogs Out or something.

"I believe in a thing called love" - The Darkness.
They have no right being successful in this decade. :P

Number 1 should be "Who Let the Dogs Out!"
I like almost every song on that list too. Sorry, but I grew up on classic rock, 80s stuff and some 90s. :) Geez, what's so bad about "We Built This City"?

First of all, Eminem doesnt try to be "pimp". It's the people that don't take time to realise that it's not wrong for a white boy to rap or like rap that cause all the controversy. His mom treated him so badly it's not even funny. Again, another thing you need to read up on before you diss it. And as for him talking about "b*tches", well again if you would have listened to when he says "anything I talk about on a record is not something that i do in real life or i believe in it". This is another example of how people jump all over something before they get their facts straight. And yes, I am a fan of Eminem because he a very skilled lyricist.

i like Eminem too,i like the way he raps.

I'm just tired of people beating up on Em, or any other rapper for that matter. Sure the lyrics arent all that necessary, but hey, deal with it. I'm sure every person that ever complained about rap has cursed more than once. And Rap isnt the only form of music that uses curses and all that. Look at Rock today. You can't go down the aisle without seeing Rock albums with Parental advisory stickers on them. So I'm guessing the reason people hate on Rap is because they're racist. And I guess they hate on Eminem because he isn't racist like them, and they don't like the idea of a white boy getting along with black people. Yeah well ya know what, If you hate on Eminem or Rap at all, you're hating on ME as well. Talkin bout how he's rude to his mother, the bitch treated him HORRIBBLY when he was a kid. She was always poppin pills and sleepin around as well. Now tell me that if your mom was doin that you wouldn't get pissed off. All rappers have a story to tell whether it's profane or not, and if you don't wanna listen to it then don't complain about it. i don't complain about how I don't like all Rock music. You don't see me criticizing some Punk Rock or Death Metal guy for doing something bad. So if you don't like or respect Rap you don't like me, so think before you type from now on.

True, yeah, I can see that. Sorry about my post before, I think I was just in a lousy mood that day. I can admit my mistakes, I don't mind. :D
All music can have that kind of negativity in it. For the record, I can't stand Death Metal or even some typical metal. I'm not saying that all rap is bad, or that these guys don't have a reason to say what they do, etc. I'm just saying that it's not enjoyable (for me, at least) to listen to -- there's no instrumentation or "singing" to speak of. :(
Even most "hard rock" is fun to listen to, that's the only reason I like it - esp 60s-80's and some 90's. I actually tend to like more happy rock, such as Van Halen, Huey and Foreigner.
I do agree sometimes the media can be biased about it -- in the 80's, Al Gore's idiot wife and some other clowns tried convincing people that pop music (especially "heavy metal" such as Judas Priest and Twisted Sister) was evil and corrupted the youth, etc. They only seemed to listen to their own side of it, which is wrong IMHO.
I guess it's a similar thing today with rap guys like Eminem -- it's seen as threatening, so they only show us one side of it, and not anything personal about the guys' lives, etc. I feel similiarly about that as I do with Kurt Cobain: I feel sorry for them as human beings, but I still don't like their music any better.
BTW, as far as the racist thing goes: I'm not racist at all. I guess I just react negatively to white rappers because they're not black, so I guess it feels like they're overacting a part they're not. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I guess I kinda grew up not used to white guys being rappers (other than the Beastie Boys, LOL).
