Friends to the End
October 9, 2020
7:15 PM PST
It was a typical morning at the McFly household. Marty McFly Sr had left early that morning to work at a record store called Musicland. He has had moderate success as a rock star - but he retired about 15 years ago, so that he can spend more time with his family. Marty's wife, Jennifer, had also left early for her office at the Hill Valley Department of Social Services - where she was a child psychologist.
Their eldest child, Marty Jr, had moved in with her fiance, Harmony Brown, about a year ago. He currently had a job working for Nintendo. Marlene was currently out on the road, doing performances all across North America as a pop singer. She had relatively moderate fame, but not to the same extent as her father. The youngest child, Melody, was seventeen - and still lived at home.
With advanced rejuvinations, Marty Sr and Jennifer both looked like they were seventeen. Melody and her mother, Jennifer, looked identical. Her brother, Marty Jr, also looked identical to their father. Marlene resembled their paternal grandmother, Lorraine, from when she was a teen.
'7:15!' Melody gasped, as she jumped out of bed. 'Perfect, just perfect. I’m gonna be late for school!. I better wake Jamie up. Gee, I really hope the mean kids leave her alone today. I feel so bad for her.'
Jamie Brown, Dr. Emmett Brown’s granddaughter and Jules' daughter, was Melody McFly’s best friend in the world - and they were both always late. Jamie always got made fun of, because her grandfather was deemed by the whole town as the local nutcase - but Jamie adored her grandfather. Jamie was also often unfavourably compared to her older sister, Harmony. She was expected to make the honor role.
Melody always stood up to the other kids that made fun of Jamie. They did things like replacing liverwurst with dogfood - so that, whenever she bit in to the sandwich, the nasty taste of dog food would remain in her mouth for a week. All the boys would make fun of her for being so tall and a thin as a pole. They would call her names like 'Giraffe', 'Jolly Green Giant' and other mean things - but Melody never stopped being her friend. In fact, Melody was quite baffled by just how cruel some kids can be.
Melody grabbed a cinnamon roll, as stepped onto her hoverboard and car-surfed to her friend's house. She then rang the doorbell of the house, and Jules had answered the door.
'Hello, there, Melody!' called out Jules. 'I have a hard time getting Jamie to wake up.'
'Don't worry, Jules,' Melody said, smiling. 'I'll go get her. You know, something needs to be done about the other kids in school. They keep making fun of her and doing mean things. It's like, ever since she started high school and had her sudden growth spurt, the other kids had started to target her for abuse. I really am concerned about her.'
'I wish there's something we could do about it,' Jules said, sighing, 'but, let's face it, the Stricklands were never big fans of our family. Jeb Strickland always acts like my daughter somehow did something to provoke the taunts. He can't seem to understand that some kids just are plain cruel. I wish I could just pull her out of school, and homeschool her, instead. Unfortunately, it's too expensive to look into homeschooling. Maybe I could try taking this to the school board. I'm sick of seeing my daughter get picked on all the time!'
'Yeah, you know, the Stricklands never seemed to be too fond of the McFly's either,' Melody said, nodding, 'in spite of the fact that my dad is a famous rock star, and my grandpa is a famous science fiction author. Could it be jealousy, perhaps?'
'Well, who really knows?' Jules said, sighing. 'I sometimes wonder if the Stricklands really like anyone. Anyway, you might as well get Jamie up - and get her off to school.'
oooooooooo
After school, Jamie came to her grandparents' house crying. Melody was following right behind her. Melody's heart was aching for her friend.
'Grandpa,' Jamie said, sobbing, 'the girls in the locker room stole all my clothes, so for the whole school day I walked around in my underwear.'
'Well, honey,' Doc said, 'I will have a talk with the principal, and we will try to straighten this out. I mean, this has gone on far enough. It's about time we stand up and take some action.'
'How come Harmony never had that problem?' Jamie continued, sobbing. 'I feel like I'm the cursed one in my family. I wish I could be as beautiful as Harmony.'
'Well, honey, you are beautiful,' Doc insisted, as he held Jamie close to him, and he stroked her hair.
'You're only saying that because you have to,' Jamie protested, sobbing. 'Everyone knows that I'm not beautiful in the conventional way, if you know what I mean.'
Melody glanced between Jamie and Doc, as she was at a loss for words. Melody had always firmly believed that inward beauty was much more important than outward beauty. She also believed that everyone was beautiful in their own special, unique way. Still, could she really deny that Jamie wasn't beautiful in the conventional way. Maybe she could help her friend try to fix that. It disgusted her to think of how shallow some people can be.
'Listen, Jamie,' Melody said, quietly. 'Maybe we could get you a nice perm or something. We could also try to buy you some nice clothes that would look flattering on you. I sometimes think that you gave up caring about how you look. Listen, I'll talk to Dad about this. Maybe he can help out.'
'Thanks, Melody,' Jamie said, softly, as she reached out to hug her friend.
'Well, Jamie,' Melody said, 'I guess I should start heading home, now. Do you think you'll be okay for the rest of today?'
'Yeah, Melody, I think so,' Jamie replied. 'Have a nice day, and thanks for being my friend.'
As Melody was heading home, however, she was accosted by Griff Tannen and his gang.
'Well, well, well,' Griff said, smirking, 'what do we have here?'
'It's the youngest McFly kid,' Data said, smirking. 'I think she'd look good wearing nothing at all.'
Melody turned to run in the other direction, but Data and Whitey caught her, and Griff shined a sleep-inducing alpha-rhythm generator into Melody's eyes, causing her to crumple to the ground.

You're Fired!
Marty McFly Jr was at work at the Nintendo Department, when he smiled at the prank that he pulled on his boss yesterday. He had a jar of pink hair dye that he bought for his fiance, Harmony Brown. For some reason, Harmony had the idea to dye her hair pink - which Marty Jr was a little unhappy about, as he loved her gorgeous blonde curls. Harmony, however, had developed some insecurities about being a blonde - having heard one too many blonde jokes. At any rate, he decided to put some of the dye inside the shampoo bottle of his boss, John Coleman.
'Psst, Marty,' whispered Todd Holmes, one of his friends, 'I must really hand it to you. I think it was great! I just hope he doesn't somehow connect the prank to you.'
'Aw, Todd, get out of town!' Marty Jr whispered back. 'There's no way he would know that it was me!'
Just then, Marty Jr felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned around, to see that it was none other than his boss - whose hair was not a bright shade of hot pink!
'Oh, hi, there, Mr. Coleman,' Marty Jr said, jumping a little bit.
'Martin Seamus McFly Jr,' Mr. Coleman said, sternly, 'come to my office immediately!'
'Yes, Mr. Coleman,' Marty Jr said, rather quietly, as he followed his boss to his office, with a bit of apprehension.
'Mr. McFly, have a seat,' Mr. Coleman said, sternly. Marty Jr quietly obeyed. 'So you're the one responsible for the prank! Don't try to deny it! I heard you discussing it with Mr. Holmes.'
'Yes, Mr. Coleman,' Marty Jr said, blushing, 'it was me. I'm sorry. I just thought it would be a funny prank.'
'Well, guess what, Mr. McFly,' Mr. Coleman said, angrily. 'If I find out this this is permanant dye, then you're fired.'
Marty Jr then began to cry, as he sobbed, 'Oh, no, what am I going to tell Harmony? I can't be fired! I can't be!'
Mr. Coleman then lifted up Marty Jr, took him out to the back of the building, and threw him into the alley, while he shouted, 'Do not not into this building ever again, you lo-rez scuzzball!'
Marty Jr couldn't remember the last time he felt so humiliated. Marty Jr felt so hopeless, as he collapsed into heaving sobs. As if that wasn't bad enough, Griff Tannen and his gang then stepped into the alleyway.
'Oh, there you are, you crybaby,' Griff said, with a smirk. 'So are you in or out of the race? The winner gets your girlfriend as the prize.'
'What!' shrieked Marty Jr, as stood up and glared at Griff. 'Harmony is not some kind of trophy, you pervert!'
'Well, I say she is,' sneered Griff, 'Unless you want me to hurt her, you are going to be in the race!' Griff then reached out from behind his back, and he revealed that he was holding an unconscious Melody.
'You bastard!' shouted Marty Jr. 'What did you do to my sister?'
'Let's say that I tranked her,' Griff replied, grinning, as the rest of his gang members burst out laughing. Data and Spike then took Melody into their car.
'What the hell are you gonna do to her?' demanded Marty Jr.
'Well, if you lose the race,' Griff said, chuckling, 'let's just say your sister's innocence will be lost.'
'You damn bastard!' shouted Marty Jr. 'Don't you dare touch my sister!'
Griff just burst out laughing, as he said to his gang, 'Come on, guys, let's go!' Griff then started to rip Melody's shirt off, provoking Marty Jr.
'You damn bastards...' Marty Jr started to shout out, then Griff grabbed a sleep-inducing alpha-rhythm generator, and he shined it in the eyes of Marty Jr.
oooooooooo
About an hour later, Dr. Emmett Brown was walking in the alleyway when he found Marty Jr unconscious.
'What in the name of Sir Issac H Newton happened here?' gasped Doc. 'Damn, he's tranked!' Doc then grabbed his cellphone, as he called up Marty Sr.
'Hello, McFly residence,' replied Marty Sr, as he picked up the phone. 'This is Martin McFly speaking.'
'Hello, Martin, it's Doc,' explained Doc. 'We have a problem here. I just found your son unconsious in the alleyway behind the Nintendo Department. I believe he's been tranked.'
'Damn, not again!' cursed Marty Sr. 'Say, Doc, is Jennifer with you? She seems to be missing.'
'No, she's not here, Marty,' replied Doc. 'This is bad. Really bad.'
'Doc,' Marty Sr said, worriedly, 'I think we have entered Hell Valley.'
'Great Scott! You're right, Marty!' gasped Doc. 'Let's drop Marty Jr off, and look for Jennifer.'
'Okay, Doc,' replied Marty Sr, sighing. 'I just hope everything turns out okay.'
'Oh, Marty, I'm sure it will,' Doc said, quietly.
oooooooooo
Later on, Doc and Marty were walking near the Courthouse Square - when they noticed that an unconscious Jennifer was sitting on a bench with a note attached to her. The note read, 'Dear Dr. Brown, Unless we get a bomb made, we will hurt this girl.'
'Oh, no, Doc,' cried out Marty Sr, as tears filled his eyes.
'Well, I guess we take her home,' Doc said, sighing, 'and I start building a fake bomb?'
'How are we going to do that, Doc?' Marty Sr asked, flustered.
'I have my ways,' Doc replied, a bit dismissively.
'Okay, but how do they know Jennifer?' Marty asked, a bit flustered.
'I'm not sure, yet,' Doc replied, confused.
'Geez,' groaned Marty. 'I guess we'll have to keep her here for now.'
'I guess so,' Doc said, sighing. 'Hopefully, she won't remember anything - and she'll think it's all a bad dream.'
'I hope so, too,' Marty said, blinking back tears. 'If those bastards touched her...'
'Don't worry, Marty,' Doc said, softly. 'I'm prety sure they just knocked her out. I don't see any bruises...' Then, noticing something, Doc said, 'Uhh, except for a burn on her neck.'
'What?' shrieked Marty, as tears filled his eyes. 'I thought they said they'd only hurt her if you didn't build the bomb.'
'Check her neck and her legs,' Doc said, as he read off the rest of the note. 'If you don't build us the bomb and bring us more plutonium, we will hurt her worse then this.'
Marty then began to cry.
'Marty,' Doc said, softly, as he placed a comforting arm on Marty's shoulder. 'I'm sure she's fine.'
'I don't think she is,' Marty sobbed. 'Not with the burn on her neck.'
Jennifer then slowly woke up. 'Where am I?' Jennifer asked, groggily. Then, flinching in pain, she continued, 'Why does my neck and my legs hurt?'
Jennifer almost collapsed, as Marty caught her just in time. He held her closely and wept.
Jennifer began to cry, too, as she asked, 'Why can I walk?'
'I'm not sure, Jenn,' Marty replied, sobbing. 'I don't know.'
'Well, Marty,' suggested Doc, 'should we maybe take her to the hospital?'
'Yes, Doc, please,' Marty sobbed. 'Let's take her to the hospital before the pain gets any worse. Oh, my poor Jennifer!'
Jennifer then started screaming, 'Owww! Owww!'
'What wrong, dear?' Marty asked, sobbing. 'Oh, God, please, no! This can't be happening!'
'Oh, Marty,' groaned Jennifer, 'I think I'm pregnant. What is it a boy or a girl? If it's twins, I think I'm going to name the girl Lorraine and the boy George.'
'Wow!' gasped Marty, as he lifted up his tear-stained face.
'Or else, I might name the boy Emmett Jr,' added Jennifer.
'Come on, you two,' urged Doc, 'let's contact the hospital. I'll go press the orange emergency button on the telephone.'
'Okay,' replied Jennifer, sighing - as she then passed out.
'No, Jennifer!' screamed Marty. 'Jennifer! Please wake up! Help me, God! Please let Jennifer be okay! Damn it! I can't lose Jennifer! My world will be empty with out her!' Marty then held Jennifer tightly to him, as he began to cry again.
'I'm sorry, Marty,' Jennifer said, a bit groggily, as she stirred. 'I didn't mean to scare you. I'm just really tired. I was throwing up all morning.'
'Please don't scare me like that!' Marty pleaded, sobbing.
'I won't,' Jennifer said, softly. Then she threw up on Marty's brand new clothes.
'Aw, man!' groaned Marty. 'I just bought these!'
'I'm sorry, Marty,' Jennifer said, quietly. 'It's just that this morning sickness is really horrible.'
'Aw, it's all right, dear,' Marty said, as he wiped his eyes. 'Geez, what's taking the hospital so long?'
'I don't know,' Doc replied, worriedly.
Just then, Doc saw a nurse walk into the living room.
'Oh, thank goodness you're here!' Marty said, sighing in relief.
'Dr. Nigh can now attend to Jennifer McFly,' explained the nurse.

The Hospital Visit
Doc and Marty had followed Dr. Nigh he was pulling Jennifer into one of the in-patient rooms. Marty kept blinking back tears, as he was worried sick about his girlfriend. Then, slowly, his tears had turned to anger. It must have been those damn Libyans, again! Marty thought, with anger. What a bunch of heartless bastards!
'Is she hurt badly, Dr. Nigh?' Marty asked, with concern.
'We don't know, yet,' replied Dr. Nigh. 'We have to give her a full body exam and take some x-rays first.'
'Well, I just hope she'll be fine,' Marty said, as he blinked back tears.
'You two wait in here in Jennifer,' instructed Dr. Nigh. 'I'll be back in about ten minutes.'
Shortly after Dr. Night left the room, Griff Tannen came in and said, 'Look what we have here! It Jennifer! I think you'd look better with nothing on at all.'
Doc then stood up in a rage, and he punched Griff. Griff fell to the ground, unconscious.
Then a nurse walked in the room and demanded, 'What is going on here?'
'Griff was trying to harass my wife,' Marty said, his voice shaking with anger.
'Don't worry, you guys,' the nurse said, gently. 'We'll bring in security, and we'll take care of this young fellow. He looks to me to be nothing but trouble.' The nurse then pressed a red button on her pager.
'The Tannens have been trouble for many generations,' Marty explained. 'His father, Cliff, always harassed my brother - while his grandfather, Biff, always harassed my father.'
'Gee, how old are you, anyway?' asked the nurse, with curiosity. 'You look to me to be in your late teens.'
'Yeah, everyone always says that,' Marty said, laughing a little. 'I'm really 52 years old, believe it or not. It's just that I use rejuvinations to keep me young.'
'He is Marty McFly, the famous rock star, after all,' Doc added, smiling.
'Oh, yeah, I've heard of you,' said the nurse, smiling. 'My kids are fans of your music, too. I figured you would look younger than most people your age do - but I never would have guessed you would look that young. So you've retired sometime back.'
'Right,' Marty said, nodding, 'I retired about 15 years ago, so that I could spend more time with my family. I do still occassionally give a concert performance and give interviews - but, other than that, I'm just regular old me now.'
'Oh, Marty,' the nurse said, smiling. 'You will always be special to my family. Say, do you ever sing at weddings? My oldest daughter plans to get married next month, and she wants you to sing at her wedding.'
'I'll have to check my schedule,' Marty said, smiling. 'Can I have your phone number? I'll call you back, and see what I can do.'
'Oh, yes, of course,' the nurse replied, excitedly. 'You are such a nice person, Marty.'
'Thank you,' Marty replied, warmly, as he reached out to hug the nurse.
Just then the security guards came into the room, and they began to restrain Griff.
One of the guards then turned to Marty, and he said, 'Don't worry about this young fellow. It's not the first time he caused trouble at the hospital. He might even be spending some time in jail.'
'I hope so,' Marty said, with anger. 'He has been making so much trouble for everybody, he is such a menace to society.'
Then another guard had entered the room, and he said, 'We just could the rest of that gang. We searched the car the gang was in, and we found four unconscious people in it. They are identified as Melody Lorraine McFly, Martin Seamus McFly Jr, Jamie Sarah Brown, and Harmony Clara Brown.'
'Those bastards!' seethed Marty. 'How dare they mess with our kids!'
'I can assure you that they will be arrested,' the guard continued, grimly. 'These guys could possible face up to 50 years in prison.'
'Only 50 years?' Marty asked, stunned. After all, with the benefit of rejuvinations, people now had the ability to live for several hundred years.
'It could possibly be longer,' replied the guard. 'We'll have to check through their records.'
Just then, Dr. Nigh came back into the room, and he asked Marty, 'Do you think it was Griff Tannen and his gang that had harmed your wife?'
'No, I don't think so,' Marty said, shaking his head. 'As troublesome as they are, I don't think they are quite that bad. I believe it was some Libyan terrorists that have harmed her. We found her on a bench near Courthouse Square, and there was a note attached to her threatening Dr. Brown to make them a bomb.'
'Oh, no,' groaned Dr. Nigh, 'we'll have to find out where the Libyan terrorists are shacked up. Do you know why they're after you guys?'
Marty turned to Doc, uncertain of what to say. Doc just shook his head.
'I really have no idea, Dr. Nigh,' Marty said, sighing. 'Maybe become some people in this town regard him as a crazy old scientist - the Libyans thought that he could somehow create a bomb for them.'
'Well, anyway,' said Dr. Nigh, 'You guys will need to leave for a little while. I need to now do some testing on your wife.'
'Right, Dr. Nigh,' Marty replied, politely. 'How long do you think the testing will take?'
'It could be up to two hours,' replied Dr. Nigh, somewhat grimly. 'I'm afraid she's been injured pretty badly.'
'Yeah,' Marty said, sadly, 'and she seems to be pregnant, too.'
'We'll do some testing on that, too,' said Dr. Nigh. 'Thanks for bringing that to my attention.'
'You're welcome,' replied Marty, as he and Doc had left the room. Then, turning to Doc, he asked, 'Where shall we go, now?'
'Let's just go to the cafeteria,' suggested Doc, 'and we'll grab a bite to eat. I really don't feel too safe leaving the hospital right now.'
'Yeah, I haven't felt this terrified, since we were in Biff's Hell Valley,' commented Marty.
