If you'd like to be part of the hosting staff for our Ouran High Banzai, look no further! Below you'll find the information for audition times and places and requirements, etc.

Requirements -
You MUST be at least 16 to host. We WILL require that you show I.D. No exceptions.

You must have a well-made, recognizable costume. (please bring a picture reference of your character if they are from an obscure fandom) Costume can be purchased online or hand made, we don't discriminate for this event.

Try outs - 6:30pm to 9pm on Wednesday September 17th at the Taylorsville/Redwood Road SLCC campus. We'll be outside on the West side of the Student Center, which is the main building in front of Visitor's Parking. If you attended Banzai in 05 or 06, it's the same location. On the west side, there is a canopied table and chair area where we will be meeting. If it is available, we may be using the outdoor amphitheater directly to the west of the student center building. If you're confused about location, please let me know and I will send you directions.

Try outs will consist of a short interview (5 or 10 min tops) and a review of your costume. We might ask you to do some short improv or answer questions and act as your character, so be prepared! :D

Your COSTUME! We prefer that you wear it, but if you'd rather not, bring it on a hangar.
Your I.D.
Your...self? Ready and willing to audition! :3

IF YOU ARE ACCEPTED -
You MUST be available for a photoshoot on October 1st in the same location as the tryout. If you do not show for this, you will not be able to participate in as many host club events. You must be in FULL costume for this shoot!

If you have reason that you cannot make it to the audition, out of state, etc... please let me know in a PM and I'll see what I can do to accommodate you.
Professional cosplay group volunteers that I've spoken with have already made other arrangements and are not required to come to this audition or the shoot. This is for all others who want to participate.

If I'm going to try out as Kaoru or Hikaru, do I have to bring along a friend to act as my "twin?" Or would I be paired up with someone else (if I even make it to the audition and have a small chance of getting the part)?

We're anticipating about 10am to 5 or 6pm both days. It might be shorter on Saturday to accommodate the cosplay contest. If you only want to work certain hours though, we'll work with your schedule, such as if there are events you don't want to miss.

It depends on if you're coming from north or south. The campus address is 4600 South and Redwood Road. That's in Taylorsville. It's just off the 4700 South exit on I-215 and is pretty easy to find. If you go to slcc.edu there should be additional directions. As stated above, we'll be at the main building, which is where visitor parking is. Just follow the signs. :D

We can't guarantee there would be a twin for you, so it would be really great if your friend wanted to play the part of the other boy. But, you're welcome to just try out for one of them and it's not required to have both there. Just that you're able to act in character as the one you're cosplaying. :D

Eh Pannon Celi can't make it to the auditions I am doing Boot Camp with Jess and It's from 7-8 and it takes me about 45 min to get up there and come home. Is There any way we could arrange somethng else? Just a question. I understand if I am SOL. Thanks!

It's kind of short notice, but it kind of depends on how many people audition on weds. I'd have to also know that you could make it to the photoshoot on October 1st. I can only do one shoot. If we don't get a lot of people trying out, I may have some open slots to be filled at the convention, but I'll have to see how it goes. Sorry Celi!

I HAS A QUESTION. My birthday is November 1st, so I'll be 16 a week after the con.... would that be okay? ^^;;;

Wait... I probably can't go if it's today and because it's on a Wednesday. Plus, my costume isn't ready.

yeah October 1st is a morning work out. [It's hard to explain.] So I Could make the October 1st thing since I'll be working out from 5-6. Anyway if there aren't alot of people there and I can try out i promise I won't disappoint. [Though my costume is in chunks right now, and tons of papers with my orders shipping to my house heh yeah..... It'll be done by octber for sure though.

Looks like I won't be able to make it to the try-outs because it's so busy on Wednesdays. I hope everything goes as planned and you find the people you are looking for. ^^

Okay, I know this is pathetically last minute, but I've been marooned in Idaho with no technology and haven't been able to get on for months. T.T So I suppose this will be a hypothetical question more than anything, lol. Somewhere in this thread you mentioned the possiblity of having some open slots to be filled at the con and I'm just wondering if that's going to happen or not. I really, really want to be a part of the Cosplay Cafe! I'm a theater major up here in Idaho with a modeling minor and really wanted to put my schooling to the test as Linalee Lee. Anyways, just wondering~!

Yes, it looks like we actually will have slots open for last-minute peoples that couldn't make the auditions. You won't get the fancy dance cards or photos like the others, but you can still participate in the events and such. Try to come to the host club as early as you can(9 or 10am) and ask to talk to Pan Pan, I can try to get you set up if the ones in there can't. Thanks!
