Title: Breeding to Get CTPK

AnneRiceBowl - January 12, 2007 06:14 PM (GMT)
I just picked up a MGCRDDRCT (that's Mustard Gas Cross Ray Double Double Ray Crown Tail) from PetCo (of all places) a few days ago. The blue in the MG coloration is not a dark blue that we all think of in the regular MG, but it's like a pastel blue, and there's alot of yellow in the coloration. Again, it's not a deep yellow like in the regular MG, but a pastel color. So, I guess he's a pastel MG? I'll try to get a pic up as soon as I can. this guy is beautiful! I can't believe I found him at PetCo, especially because all the other bettas were in poor condition. He has no flaws in his fins that I have seen, and so far looks to be in superb health. I found him by accident, and didn't see him, but out of the corner of my eye as I walked away. He was opening up his fins to flare, and I looked over at him, and saw his rays all crossed each other, and when I looked even closer, I saw that the ends of each ray were doubled. Oh, and this guy has a patch of yellow color behind the left side of his head.

Any way...

I want to breed this guy, but the only female that I have right now is a red Cambodian DT/CT cross. If I were to breed her with the male, then I would get a ton of red wash, and I don't want that. I have a Betta sp. 'Mahachai' female, but she's in with her man. I am supposed to be getting 2 females from someone, but to tell you the truth, I forgot what tail type they are. :( I think they are green HMPKs though, not sure.

Any opinions from the experienced breeders?

My mind was thinking that you can create something like this with small crowns. :)

ARB I did the same. I crossed my Blue MG DDR CT with an MG traditional PK and now I have fry. Just waiting to see what they look like when they get bigger.

Before this MG CT x MG PK spawn, I did a Black/White Marble Trad PK x Steel Blue CT spawn and I got 5 fry(2 males, 2 females, and 1 unsexed runt most likely male):
Anubis, the biggest male and keeper.

Penelope, biggest female and keeper.

Moo Moo, 2nd female, not keeping.

The two others are too hyper to get pictures of. -_-
