Title: Assessment on these Benbetta HMPKs?
Haeun - January 12, 2007 07:50 AM (GMT)
(: My roommate was interested in buying a betta from Thailand, so muhaha, time for me to get more bettas too.
So after browsing through all of Aquabid, I spotted some HMPKs from Benbetta.
Any experience with this person?
Anyways, my point is... Can anyone make some assessment on these bettas? ^_^
I think I would have room for only one or two pairs, so please help me decide the best of these three!

yeevia2006 - January 12, 2007 08:27 AM (GMT)
Let me try. LOL
OK. This are usually cross from Dragon into gas mustard hmpk.
Benbetta do have nice bettas actually and very reasonable price. I think I did get some from him too last time.
As what I can see, All three are mostly siblings even the colors are different especially the mask metallic.
As my pick for form, I will pick the middle one. The top dorsal are higher and do balance the bottom fin. When look as overall, he got more point than the two. Averall, he will be the best to pick to breed.
For the first one, the top dorsal is very nice. Wider than the second one. But then, the bottom anal fins are bigger and a slightly out of balance. As for color, he is nice. He is more to modern plakat.
The last one, you can forget it. LOL The anal fins is not nice.
Have you ever look at ploy bettas? He got pretty nice fancy marble dragon hmpk too. I think they are very nice. :) I have his bettas and they are very strong. I have one right now in the breeding tank. The blue mask hmpk. :)
Haeun - January 12, 2007 08:46 AM (GMT)
^^ The first two was my pick too. But I still do like the colors on the 3rd one.
Ploy bettas? I think I remember seeing his name around, but I don't see any of his on Aquabid right now (I think).
yeevia2006 - January 12, 2007 08:47 AM (GMT)
Check out this one if you like blue mask. A pair for 15.00.
His bettas is nice too. The breeder is nice too. :)

Oooh, nice form. :D Love his ventrals.
But unfortunately, I don't want to buy any blues. :\
*goes more Aquabid surfing*

I think the breeders do have dragon gas mustard hmpk too. Check them out. The price is good. ;)

The third one fins not so good. You still can using the first to breed and get green color like the third one for sure.
They will be three colors. Copper, green and blue in the babies in one batch. Do check out the closed auction posts and look for ploy something. See if he going to give you discount since nobody buy them. ^_^
Haeun - January 12, 2007 11:28 AM (GMT)
I think I may end up getting one pair from Benbetta, and browse for more from other breeders.
Maybe the middle copper one? Or would the first blue one be better? :\ I am leaning towards the middle one.
Unfortunately, Ploybettas hasn't had anything up recently. Need to find more bettas to combine shipping on! :P
yeevia2006 - January 12, 2007 12:19 PM (GMT)
Ploybettas just ended wednesday. If you check the closing post, you can see a lot of his bettas didn't sold. I think each are 20.00 and that is why. People wants cheaper now.
As for the bettas, I would go for the middle one for sure since you also love the colors. If get two pairs, then you can get the first one too to breed. ;)
Below here should have something for you that is very reasonable price for a pair. 15.00 only per pair. They looks good.

^_^ I found the Ploybettas auctions~ And I remember some of 'em! They were my "Man, I wish I can buy them but I'm too poor!" picks! :P
So how about these ones? I tried to narrow down from the list I had.

Not ploybetta, but I can get a pair, and cross female to my orange dal. :D / Edit: Nvm, female have only 2 rays.

The females to Benbetta's HMPKs are as follows:

yeevia2006 - January 12, 2007 06:15 PM (GMT)
Yup. His bettas is very nice! Also pricy too. LOL Sure will give you a deal if not sale. LOL :lolo:
I saw the copper hmpk you put up just 15.00 per pair! :lolo:
Haeun - January 12, 2007 07:31 PM (GMT)
Yeevs, you got me addicted to Aquabid.
:OO
I am going Aquabid crazy. :chair
I inquired after a pair of this one too.

My wallet and bank is going to be empty very soon. :OMG:
yeevia2006 - January 12, 2007 07:56 PM (GMT)
Are you sure you getting this pair? The scale is a little not straight in the picture. The head is a snake head type. Spoon. You like that? I will give a grade B for him. ^_^
I am worried that if you breed with the sibling female that has rosetail( he is), you will end up having bad scales in the frys. I had been there. LOL :lolo:
Haeun - January 12, 2007 08:05 PM (GMT)
 Bad scale? Where?! *stares at picture* I trust Yeev's word, but I am not very good at finding bad scale.
I actually like snake head, but I guess not very good in betta world?
I just asked first if seller has him available and how much, so noncommital, but...
^_^ I trust Yeev's judgment.
yeevia2006 - January 12, 2007 08:18 PM (GMT)
Here is it. See it? That is already identified it. But if you cross to another line, it will be ok. :) This male is a rosetail for sure. Starting to form rosetail now.
Did you check out the red purple butterfly hmpk pair I got? All the frys bad scales. They are rosetail too and they have perfect scales.
I will get this two pairs. I think they are not sibling. ^_^ One is more copper mustard line and the other cross dragon to mustard.

Haeun - January 12, 2007 09:40 PM (GMT)
Ooooh, I see. Hmmm... If it's outcrossed to a non-rosetail, could that be bred out?
Ok, I think I will get both the blue and copper ones. (:D I asked Benbetta for discount so that I can get more betta B) )
Hmm. Maybe I should control myself and just stick to those two pairs. :lolo:
Akamaru-Enko - January 12, 2007 10:47 PM (GMT)
I like the first and last (of the ones you first posted).
The third one is really preety in color and finnage but the first has a very nice color and finnage is good too.
Get them all!!!
Haeun - January 12, 2007 10:54 PM (GMT)
Heheh, if I had the money and space, that would definitely be an option. Unfortunately, for this poor student, no can do. ;)
yeevia2006 - January 12, 2007 11:45 PM (GMT)
Haeun. I just got the offer from the breeder of the grizzle pair. It listed as 25.00 per pair and now he gave me $15.00 per pair. So I take two pairs. ;) Aren't you learned something in here to get a deal? :welcome
Akamaru-Enko - January 12, 2007 11:53 PM (GMT)
Oh then I go for the third.
yeevia2006 - January 13, 2007 12:35 AM (GMT)
Why not! Next generation because he only listed 2 pairs right now. LOL
:WOU
Haeun - January 14, 2007 01:14 AM (GMT)
Benbetta gave me the awesome deal of $10/pair. B) Don't think it includes shipping price to transhipper, but that's still a pretty darn good deal.
So I think I'll go with two pairs, the blue dragon and the copper. :)
To be honest, I want to buy these two pairs too:
http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/clo...ashmp1168622176and
http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/clo...ashmp1168708671I don't know if I have space in my dorm room. BUT.... I
COULD do it if I divide my 10 gallon into 4. :D
Should I do it?
yeevia2006 - January 14, 2007 01:49 AM (GMT)
Good for you. Yes, 10.00 per pair is a great price. Now you know how to get bettas from over sea.
As for the two at the bottom, you only need one pair. They are from same spawn and same siblings. It will be up to you what color you want in the future. Both will produce blue, green and copper. For me, I will select blue since you got one copper above. ;)
Haeun - January 17, 2007 07:50 AM (GMT)
It is official. Aquabid is SIN.
I keep eyeing all these new bettas. -_- I don't even have the space.
But doesn't this guy have awesome form?

At least his caudal looks perfect to me. His anal fin looks good too. His ventral could be a little bit thicker, maybe.
I don't even like Salamander/lavendar color, but I like this guy!
My shipment from Thailand is due on January 28, and I have a feeling my shipment may grow before it officially gets sent out to the USA!
yeevia2006 - January 17, 2007 08:01 AM (GMT)
lol grow? lol I think you better stop. lol
This is a tri colors butterfly. Not red purple butterfly. He got green irid. Yes, when you breed red purple butterfly, you got three colors of bettas. One is this, then red purple butterfly and last is yellow gas mustard butterfly.
As I see him, his body is short and that is all his flaws. So out. lol. fins are nice and so do the colors. :)
Haeun - January 17, 2007 08:06 AM (GMT)
:chair :chair :chair I know.
I think I'm going to ban myself from Aquabid until January 28th (unless Yeevs wants to tell me if there's an awesome fish) and do more studying now. -_- Aquabid makes me just want more fish. :bonk :bonk :bonk
Haeun - January 18, 2007 07:38 AM (GMT)
Ok, last question. :P
I'm trying to choose a female to go with the blue mask.
1.

2.

3.

4.

I think #1 and #3 has best form and color. I like #1 the best. Edit: :\ On second thought, I think I like #3 better.
Styx - January 18, 2007 07:51 AM (GMT)
Haeun - January 18, 2007 08:23 AM (GMT)
^^ Ok, seems that most people say #3. Unless someone tells me otherwise, I guess I'll stick with #3.
yeevia2006 - January 18, 2007 10:16 AM (GMT)
Number 1 is the best.
Number 3 a bit hump on the back and a spoon head.
^_^
Haeun - January 18, 2007 07:40 PM (GMT)
Hmm, I don't really see the humpback (-_- I have bad eye for these things) but I have to admit that I like #1's face a lot more. ^_^ #1 looks so sweet. But hmmmmm. Hard decision for me.
yeevia2006 - January 19, 2007 12:35 AM (GMT)
yup. tha face is rounder too. not like a snake or spoon head.
they all still good to breed. ^_^
