You'll need some Quickcure for velvet prevention..If you notice any fry dying off after the ten day mark, do a regular, maybe slight underdose of QuickCure.
Live plants. If it's in a twenty gallon, I think you should get a divider, use Yeeves' startegy, corner them up on one side of the tank.

WOW! So big tupperware to breed. They both pretty small too. I can tell from the 1 gallon tupperware.
Did you check mine the latest breeding tank? I just have two going in breeding. You can use the 4 to 5 gallon tupperware to breed. The one you had is very big. ^_^

its a 20g tub. and its not filled up even to the half mark. and the divider is not staying up even with tape. any ideas?
i put some bubbles fromanother male in the tank so hopefully there will be more. should i release the female tonight?

20 gallon is too big to breed. In 10 gallon tank, you only need 1/2 to 1/3 of the tank to breed. Too big what I see. The male is going to take his breath to catch the girl.

The tupperware the female's in looks big enough..I dunno, try spawning them in there, lol!
Maybe you can find an oversized fish bowl, drum style.. Or get a 2.5 gal, put that in your big 20 gal for the heat, and put both of them in the 2.5 gal...
Oh.. And don't worry if he hasn't made a nest yet, apparently some make it during the spawn or in breaks between chasing the female- That's what my Suwa did.

this is goign to have to be the last day for them as tomorow im going to my aunts house for New years. I dont wont to leave them alone for 2 days.

In my opinion, it is still too big. Since you be out tomorrow, You better redo next year when you come back from holiday. If I were you, take them out now and keep feeding them until the female look like exploding her tummy. Feed her frozen red blood a lot. So do the male so he got energy. Twice per day. When they ready again, then breed again in a smaller container like sunaga said. Using the one gallon tupperware into the 20 gallon. please used the foam plate like yeevia2006 do. Not the cup because you are breeding in open space. the bubbles will pop and the eggs will dihydrate by the warm air. ^_^
Happy new year! :P

No news update? Did you listened to Kang Kong advice? ^_^

I did pull them befor i left. Both fish are doing fine. I was feeding them 2 times a day. I think a 1g is way to small for breeding the fish in. What do you meen im breeding them in open space?
yeevia2006 - January 3, 2007 04:12 AM (GMT)
open space mean you have no cover on the top. So the hot air in your house or the cool air will effect the bubbles of the nest. Not good. So using a plate foam cut out will be better. It protect the top layer of the air and control the temperature better.
Keep feeding your bettas. Make sure you feed them as much as they take it. In a week or two, try again. The one gallon tupperware is perfect. This will force the girl to breed with the male. Too much space will make the girl hide and run away. The male don't have the energy to make the nest if keep chasing the female. By the way, IAL will make the male wants to make bubbles.
