You can feed lots of different food. Bettas appriciate variety. I feed mine bloodworms, Hikari pelleted food and flake food. It's rotated randomly so it's always a surprise for my little guys on what they are going to get ^_^

This is a really old post, lol.
But I will say this, I have also fed my fish cheese, (I know, bad me) chocolate (cause they were begging for it) shrimp (why not?) and... well... FISH!!! (the little canibals).
Oh, I have also given them caviar.. No egg eating jokes please.
Please note, do NOT feed your fish cheese or chocolate. Not that anything happened to mine, but I wouldn't want something to happen to YOURS.
Also, I have fed my fish ants.. in small amounts.

My bettas will eat the variety that consists of flake... flake... and flake. and their weekly pea.
Little boogers.
If I give them something else. The females will try it, but spit it and Plato gives me this look like "Mom, you're kidding me, right??"

The flake they all attack like they are starving.
