yeevia2006 - August 14, 2006 10:50 PM (GMT)
He has culled more than 20 bettas now. :lolo: What a helper. LOL Those have to go. Bend spine and swimbladder. Need to go. ^_^

bettaqueen - August 18, 2006 04:54 PM (GMT)
you mean he ate 20 bettas? :o

LaBella - August 18, 2006 05:17 PM (GMT)
Well culling is a fact of life when you are breeding anything.
And when you have things that affect quality of life (swim bladder issues and bent spines) culling is the best thing to do.

bettaqueen - August 18, 2006 05:31 PM (GMT)
yes I guess it is more humane than going to the lfs and buying some innocent goldfish or minnows to toture. At lest this way you are feeding them damaged fish.

LaBella - August 18, 2006 05:40 PM (GMT)
In the natural course of events, big fish eat smaller fish...
Those feeders are usually culls as well. Or bred to be food.

bettaqueen - August 18, 2006 05:43 PM (GMT)
true , true. hey post tag buddy . We are doin good today :WOW:

LaBella - August 18, 2006 06:17 PM (GMT)
Yup yup... But on topic, I think I am going to get oscars for my cullers. Cliched I know, but I like them.

bettaqueen - August 18, 2006 06:22 PM (GMT)
Oscars are cool fish. I got to see the employees feeed one at lfs I was at once and it was pretty interesting to watch. He kind of swimmed around munching on the swordtail and had half of it hanging out of his mouth.

bettaqueen - August 18, 2006 10:32 PM (GMT)
Bella. Don't you got to have huge tanks for oscars?

LaBella - August 20, 2006 08:58 AM (GMT)
Yeah, if I got any, I'd have to have at least a 50 for them.

bettaqueen - August 21, 2006 03:23 PM (GMT)
yup that is true. I hope you get some

Betta Blossoms - August 23, 2006 05:57 PM (GMT)

They dont exactly have names yet, but so far they are culling guppies as fast as I can throw them in, but I havent had to cull many bettas, only 1 so far but thats because he wasnt eating and his spine was bent in 2 places...oh, and he liked to sit on his head

bettaqueen - August 24, 2006 04:44 PM (GMT)
I don't know the pics of Yeevia's are kinda cute

Betta Blossoms - August 28, 2006 11:18 PM (GMT)
I will have to get some updated pics of htem, their colors are changing very fast, but none of them are more friendly than the 1st one I got, he always greets me, and can be hand fed, the others stay away in the shadows, although the small skinny one is now comming up, tbut the larest and prettiest is still quite shy...and the waters not clear..all tannony.. *is that a word?*.. anyway..i still htink me guys are cuter ^_^ ..i just ahve to more convincing is all :OO

QUOTE (bettaqueen @ Aug 18 2006, 04:54 PM)
you mean he ate 20 bettas? :o

Yeah, I got swim bladders babies bettas, crocked bend spin, this and that that is too much to take care off. It is better to cull than pill up all the bettas. I only safe the one that can swim normal and healthy. I still have a bunch of 1 and 1/2 years old swim bladder bettas in their own big individual tupperware. At least I got 20 plus of them. Who wants? They can have them. I need to let them go since I don't cull adult swim bladders bettas. They are active big healthy adult that have swimbladder. :D

Betta Blossoms - August 29, 2006 04:23 AM (GMT)
pictures? I might be inteerested :D

bettaqueen - August 30, 2006 05:22 PM (GMT)
betta blossoms I think what Yeevs meant is that he is not giving away the deformed bettas from breeding. He is feeding the deformed bettas to his flowerhorn fish for food ( culling)
