Now here's the problem. When he go to Yeevia, he noticed something wrong with one of his gill covers. It looks a little enlarged with no obvious parasites/flukes or obvious injury. Yeevs took some pics to show me: He treated the fish for about a week with Jungle parasite with no change. I have him now, I got him in the mail yesterday. If you have any ideas or suggestions as to what to try next, I'd appreciate it.

Yes Yeevs, you pack very well. I opened the box yesterday and the bags were covered in the styrofoam peanuts and it looked like there were 6 small bags in the box. I almost fainted!! :OO :OO :OO I didn't have room for 6!! But then I realized it was only 3 big bags. Not that I wouldn't love 6 more bettas, I just don't have the room right now.

This is what I got from Linda.
I followed her advise to do the first step. Parasite clear from jungle and see how he is doing. But nothing happened since i did do three times in that whole week before sending him out to you.
He is active and looks healthy. I think the next step to do is CLOUT.

He does look like his gills are irritated. That could be residual stress
from shipping, or some kind of parasite. I would suggest you give him some
supportive treatment. .. for the gills that would be almond leaf (especially
for breathing problems), a bit of salt to discourage any bacterial problems,
some kind of aloe based additive like Stress Coat to promote healing, and
then a good anti-parasitic medication. My favorite is Aquarium Products'
"Life-Bearer" . . .but CLOUT would likely work as well. .. Linda

I bred him with a light marble female and it was only a tiny spawn. But I did see 2 freeswimming babies today ....... so perhaps there are more too! Will have to wait and see.

LaBella - August 11, 2006 09:57 AM (GMT)
I don't know if you caught the CB chat, but like it was said, if you spawn, and don't see anything, DO NOT break down the tank, for at least two weks, and feed the tank as if something is in there, because there just might be.
Now after two weeks, you might have a filthy cruddy tank, but IF there is any surviving fry, you will know by then.

Mommy2Karah - August 11, 2006 02:51 PM (GMT)
I'm still feeding! I see one baby every once in a while!!

Betta Blossoms - August 12, 2006 04:25 PM (GMT)
I had the exact same thing happen! i thought I only had 2 fry, because I only saw 2 together when ever I loked, but just yesterday, I was realy getting anoyed, I mean, how could that little fry be changing from an orangish body, to white? well, then I saw a 3ird, and I was like "OH! so thats how you did it :P " but then, I started looking closer, and found another :WOW:

so, now the cound on my DTxCT spawn has upped ^_^

but yea, I can almost garentee there is atleast one more in your tank, look at sizes and color lol ^_^

Synirr - August 13, 2006 06:23 AM (GMT)
Do another spawn and give me fry!!! :WOU

Mommy2Karah - August 13, 2006 02:06 PM (GMT)
I'm doing all I can to be able to see them as it is!! I won't be able to tell their size or color til they're a LOT bigger!!

And I want to spawn again Synirr, but I only have this one tank. So as soon as these guys are big enough to be found and moved I can try again.

Mommy2Karah - August 14, 2006 03:15 PM (GMT)
Well, as I was looking at them last night, I know I counted at least 6 at one time. So the numbers are going up up UP! :D

LaBella - August 14, 2006 03:48 PM (GMT)
WONDERFUL!!!
believe me, 6 are easier to fed than 2. Even now, I have to feed the babies, and WATCH them while they eat and shoo them off when they have had enough, because they gorge, and there are STILL worms left.
So after they have filled the bellies, I IMMEDIATELY remove the extras, and feed them to other fish.
But it is a pain, and i HAVE to watch them. They gorge themselves silly, and get so belly full they lay on the bottom of the tank and pant if I don't... The little piggies.

bettaqueen - August 14, 2006 06:39 PM (GMT)
wow that one is so pretty. I never knew there were so many unique color variations to bettas till I joined the site. You have some pretty bettas Yeevia

LaBella - August 25, 2006 10:03 AM (GMT)
Bettas come in every color under the rainbow... just some aren't breeding true yet, lol.

bettaqueen - August 25, 2006 01:44 PM (GMT)

LaBella - August 25, 2006 01:45 PM (GMT)
whatever you can think of, it is there, or will be available sooner or later, I just love that about these guys.
