They Block you because you promote fighting bettas? Are they on crack or what? :lolo: Bettas is well known as fighting fish and nobody can change the history. You not promoting people to fight. :lolo:
It looks like that betta is what synirr wants it right? How come you got that? I really like the red and black marble. It reminds me of mine. He is a good color looking betta. Did you put them on ebay? I didn't see them in aquabid. ^_^

You know I also breed pit bulls.
Though I do not in anyway support fighting pit bulls, I know this is the history of the breed, and that they are still being used for such to this day.
In fact, though I have show dogs, I look for pit bulls from known fighting bloodlines, because these dogs have the most perfect conformation, they are bred to perform, not to look like what someone THINKS a performance dog looks like, something that has ruined more breeds... German Shepherd, Boxer, English Bulldog, Spanials, Setters, even the Greyhound, and the child of the pit bull, the American Stafordshire Terrier.
I have been kicked off of a couple forums trying to explain that NO, I don't condone fighting, No, I don't think it is right, and NO I will not buy puppies or dogs off someone that I KNOW to be fighting dogs, and believe me, you can tell...
But I will NOT deny the history of my breed, because by doing so I deny the uniqueness of my dogs, and I deny anypotential problems that may arrise form me having dogs of a warriors blood... Like Ummmm
Trying to eat the neighbors Rottweiler, or Pomeranian.

If these fish weren't FIGHTING fish, we could have a bunch of males living together like the living jewels they are, lighting up whatever room they are in.
They would be just guppies.

We have something special in our fish, and their special needs due to their inate genetics as well as tweaking done by fighters are something that we all gladly shoulder.

Oooooooh a cute little short-bodied guy!! *bookmark*
It seems like there are more and more of them showing up all of a sudden.

AMEN Betta Belle!! Aquabid has a policy against fighters though. However, you're free to sell them on there so long as you don't actually mention that they are fighters. That's why you see a lot of auctions that say things like "from top bloodlines!!" instead.

Not to change the subject but I have a question betta belle. I raise and show pug dogs in the AKC and you mentioned yours are show dogs. AKC doesnt recognize the pit bull dog so how do you show them ? Are they a part of the UKC ? I am not being nasty i am just extremely curious .......... :D

Betta Belle - July 13, 2006 02:10 AM (GMT)
A brief history lesson. When the AKC was formed they left out the American pit bull terrier. The UKC was formed specifically to register them.
Later when the AKC began accepting them under the name of the Staffordhire Terrier, EVERY dog that registered was a UKC registered American Pit Bull Terrier.
So Amstaffs are nothing but non fighting bred pit bulls.
They can try to say they are a separate breed, but BSL says they are the same, their genes say they are the same, and their PEDIGREES say they are the same. So in a sense the name might be diference, but yes, the AKC does recognize pit bulls.
That being said
When the UKC began accepting other breeds that wanted more than just conformation titles, there was a group of pit bull breeders that didn't like that turn of events, and they formed their own regisrty, the American Dog Breeders Association.
This is the registry I use, where my dogs are registered, and what I show through.
If you ever get a chance and look at the different standards, you will see that there is a difference in what each registry expects conformationally. Though they are all essentially the same breed.
The AKC, the emphasis is on the head and "substance"
I think the staffs I see lugging around the ring in AKC shows are laughable. As is per for the AKC, they drew the standard up on what they thought a fighting dog should look like, though granted, they did use as a model for the standard a well known fighting dog by the name of Colby's Primo.
The UKC dogs are better than the AKC dogs, and they are steadier than the ADBA dogs, however, they are championing out fat, short legged, long bodied, INCORRECT dogs right and left. Not only that, but they are letting their dogs get too big.
A friend has a bitch that is a 45lber, and the judges will say, nice dog, too bad she is so small, but that bitch is at the limit for height/weight set by the standard. Or was at that time, they may have modified the standard since that bitch was shown.
The ADBA's problem is that the dogs are shown at 2-3% body fat. The judges want to see every cut of muscle, and believe me, you can tell if they starved the weight off the dog, or worked the weight off the dog.
But then ppl see this dog that looks like it is starving, because people don't know what the difference is betwen a skinny dog and a dog at top physical condition, (remember our pets are as over weight as we are), you can get accused of animal cruelty, even though there is nothing wrong with your dog, or worse, accused of prepping your dog for a fight.
Now eventually I will start to dual register my dogs ith the UKC, they offer more competition in that there are agility, obedience, and other working titles available, as for now, the ADBA has only show and weight pulling.
The AADR, another registry I use, which is very new, also dos the same, but they hav treadmill races, and hing time competitions, and I am not into that, because I feel it gives a negative imagage to an already much maligined breed.
