I have a bunch of fry that came from marbled parents. They all have red looking gill areas. No swelling or anything else I can notice. They were in the same grow out with others and none of them have it. Just the marbles. Could this be a coloring issue? I don't want to cull them until I know for sure. Help anyone?
If there he seems perfectly normal, it's proably just colored. One of my fish had that too. I'm not the person to ask though.
Just want to say that she's very cute, and even if she has some problems, you should keep her.
I'm leaning towards coloring. I looked at the others from that spawning and they all have a bit of it to some degree. The other spawns are in the same grow out tank and they show no signs of gill disease. Keeping them all would be nice, but I don't have room for a hundred bettas! By culling, I mean adopt out or take to the LFS. :D
Nop thats just colour :) She is fine.
With gill Disease the inside of the gill will be red or on the edges.
