first off, I have to say I had to laugh when the person at walmart tried to convince me that bettas have a breeding season :OO
We were talking, and I told him how I breed them...Hes like, "wow! my son has been trying but its so hard because you only have a month to get it done, and if you put them together out of season, they will kill each other"... :blink: :OO :OO
I think maybe some other species have a season, but not splendens, either that, or I'm rubbing nature the wrong way lol

Because I think I got a chocolate out of that red marble female, and it struck me as male, so i jarred it off, and waited for the fins to grow...I have 3 others jarred too, but this one still has little biddy fins, so I thought, well, maybe I made a mistake, and its female, it looks male to me, but hey, we all make mistakes...so ladida, and I add it back into the 55 with hte grils, I can't find an egg spot, the ventral fins are very close together, so it doesn't like theres a whole lot of stretch room for eggies...
I need a judge!!

Ok, I don't think its a PK per say, but whats up with this guy??
His brothers look different finnage wise every week, but he has only changed in the intensity of his coloration, hes beautiful, but is he stunted? Or does he maybe have a little piece of plaket in him?...but then again, would it be enough to show this early?

If you bought fish from off the revlon line, the revlon line is related to my Hollywood/Cool line and they all come down from off a Choc PK.
I have to try to do the pedigree one day, but I am almost certain that is the case.

Its so funny though because i'm working on red solid and marble, and chocolates, and that spawn had it all! lol, well, there are two spawns in that mix, but i can't figure out whos parents are what lol, some have a solid red father, others have a pink dalmatian father, some have a HM mother, some have a CT..so confusing lol, but they are still small, it should be easier to tell when they have their full finnage
question, what age approx. can bettas breed? what age should they breed? Or is it more dependant on size? I want to do an experiment....
