Title: What are my options
Southernbelle - February 27, 2008 01:27 PM (GMT)
OK. Deep breath. I know nothing much about breeding bettas, but I know what i want to produce. I have a male already. He's a solid steel blue with a pretty thick mask. (he's my avatar) All I need is a female, and I want to get the right one. I'm waiting for summer to roll around so the weather will be condusive to breeding them. Here's what I want out of the spawn.
1. I want to keep the mask
2. I would like a bicolor not involving red
- Is it possible to produce any dragons? I'm still a little confused on all the layers and stuff seeing as I have had no hands on activity. I think some sort of blue dragon would be interesting.
Basically, concerning a little girl, what are my options concerning her color to get the offspring I want?
Thanks much... Kat

i don't think you would get any dragons cause dragon coloring are a really thick color though i have seen somewhere a blue dragon called a pacific dragon and yea it does have the red in it...what u might want to do is breed your male to a steel blue masked female also and if u can't find one you can also use either turq or royal blue ...if u breed steel to steel you'll get 100% steel...steel and turq will yield u 50/50...and same w/ royal blue 50/50 also i hope that'll help you out... ;)

Thanks for the post and advice! :D Yeah, I thought about that too. I'd like to improve his mask to a full masked betta. (i have no idea how long that would take lol) The turquoise sounds like a good idea, but out of curiostiy, what would happen if I spawned Rembrandt with a steel gas female?

Well, gas is yellow bi color, in a nut shell.
If the blue male is not carrying yellow, then breeding to a gas will give you red wash/bi colors.
