Hey Rosen,
I work for a pest control company.... need some recommendations? Your pest population seems HUGE.

But seriously I'm JK, they're actually kinda cute... for a roach.

Lol. Actually, out of the 4 species of roaches that I keep, only one is classified as a pest. :P That's the one I caught in my back yard, though (Blatta Orientalis). The rest are tropical roaches and couldnt survive more than a few days outside the cages.

Thanks, they are pretty spiffy looking. They just grow so darn slow, that I've had the nymphs for months and they finally molted out into adults, I got so excited. :P lol

This is a really dumb question:
If they are the same species, why do their molted forms look different from each other?

As you are probably laughing at such a dumb question right now, let me tell you I have never even SEEN a live roach, let along learn about them.

BTW, HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROSENKRIEGER!

If you are talking about that photo, the ones with the wings are the molted out adults, the one without the wings is still a juvenile. I put it in as just a comparison.

Wow, I'm dumb!
Thanks for clearing that up for me. ;)

It's alright.

On a side note, I hate how google puts advertisements at the bottom of the page that it thinks are relevant... On this thread, all I ever see are pest control and bug killer advertisements... :(

I'm sorry, but I find that hilarious.
Hey, Mu, want to some roaches, move down south. We got em the size of cats round here.

Lol yeah. The Palmetto Bugs (Periplanta Americana). It seems that that species is like twice the size in florida as it is anywhere else. :P

I'm originally from Southern FL, now I live in SC. When the "yanks" come down... they freak out at the size of the Palmetto bugs...
Had one lady that told me one was "staring at [her] with its beady eyes"... I asked her if she owned a shoe... she mushed it, and I got her bug guy out.
The people from up north are scared to death of our roaches down here.
LMBO!!!

Lol. See, I think I'm just crazy... I'd see it and go "Wow, that's the biggest P. Americana I've ever seen! Anyone got a deli cup?!" hahahah

lol, my friend has some itty bitty ones in her house (NY)

Her mom goes "hunting" with the vacuum cleaner lol

They didn't bother me horribly until I caught open in my house....freaked me out...I now check everything I bring home with care... They aren't threatening as long as they stay in the wild lol

davenia7 - February 27, 2008 01:01 PM (GMT)
Hey Betta...
don't worry, they won't attack. And it sounds like your friend's mom has German Roaches. They reproduce in plague proportions (like thousands a day) and at least down here, require months of weekly services to get rid of. And even more fun, if you see 10 or more of them... you have plague proportions living in the wall.

eeeew! omg thats it!!

Yea, they break out the sticky paper too...

But its their own fault, they aren't the cleanest of people, their autistic son doesn't understand that you can't start eating something and then leave it in the living room...

lol my little brother has angelman syndrome and he has the same concept concerning camelback crickets that come in through our basement...lol. Gotta love him though.
