Hi....newbie from across the pond here.
I've had this love affair with Siamese fighting fish (i hate the word Betta) for 30 years now....since i started keeping fish, but only ever managed to keep the odd one in community tanks.
That was until recently when i decided to set up a few tanks in the conservatory. I have 5 tanks....two for holding my males, one for the girls and two for spawning.
I've just had my first spawning this week...babies have become free swimming this morning and i've just removed the male....all good so far !!!
But that was with a pair of veiltails. I find it very difficult to get any decent fish like the ones i see on aquabid...maybe i'll eventually import myself.
Regards
Andy
Welcome to Unique!!
Certainly we are glad to have you, but may I also suggest the bettas4all forum.
There are many European breeders there that can help you.
The import laws are simpler with going through the EU then from us to you, though I would gladly send you something if I could, lol.
Congratulations on your spawn. You well find that here at least, there is no stigma in breeding veil tails, and as a matter of fact, we alone have a veil tail appreciation month were the focus is on the much maligned VT.
Feel free to share with us pictures and information on your spawn in the spawn log, and we'd love to see pictures of the rest of your betta family in whatever catagory they fit in.
Again, welcome to Unique Bettas, where every betta is unique.
(you know I am teasing you, right, lol)
Hey!
Glad to have a UK betta hobbiest pop up on this site! We hope you feel welcome here!
What color of veiltails did you breed?
Welcome from across the pond! Hope you have a great time hanging out with everyone here as we consider each other family. And most of all congrats on the bettas!
