Title: Blue eyed orange

Can you believe it! I'm actually posting pictures! It's only been a year! I still suck, but oh well! Keep in mind that these two are in cheapy plastic bins from Wal-Mart and the water in their 2 separate bins is tinted from IAL, so they aren't the clearest.

The female, Sassy, is my favorite out of all my bettas. She has a personality as big as a fish can get. I've had her for about 10 months. The male, Tri, I've had for about, oh, maybe 8 months and I just noticed yesterday has blue eyes! Talk about quick to notice! I haven't gotten around to digging out Tri's baby (okay, teenager) pictures yet to see if he had blue eyes when he arrived from Thailand. Sassy is American. I eventually have plans on spawning these guys. I just haven't gotten that far.

Okay, let's see if I can get these pictures to post. Hopefully you won't have to use too much imagination to see Tri's blue eyes. That's what I wanted to show you guys. I have the pictures of Sassy just so you could see the difference. Oh, I also have Tri's brother. His name is Uno. (Auctions #1 and #3 - I was having trouble thinking of names, what can I say!) Uno doesn't have blue eyes. He also doesn't have a red blob on his pectoral fin like Tri does. Other than a bit of metallic on their faces, all 3 are pretty nice orange fish.

This is Sassy in her container on the left and Tri in his on the right. They are in the process of flirting in between wondering what on earth I'm doing. It's pretty easy to see the difference in eye color when they are side by side.

I don't think this is working! Tell ya what. I should have gotten my butt to sleep for work tonight about 2 hours ago. I'll just keep you all in suspense and work on it tomorrow. I computer wiz I am not! Sorry guys.

You know, betta eyes are one of the most beautiful parts of a betta to me. I love just looking at them!

Didn't see any eggs this morning. I was surprised because they certainly looked like they were raring to get to it last night before I went to bed. I'll take a closer look a little later. They were acting like they had already spawned. Hopefully Tri didn't snack on them. I fed them heavily with bloodworms before putting them together last night. I'll let you know.

Yep, I should trust my instincts. We have blue eyed eggs. At least I hope they will have blue eyes! Sassy only got a couple rips in her fins.

Not too bad. 4" of water in a plastic bin, half of an IAL, a banana leaf and live plants. The container is in a room where the temp is between 85° and 90°. I fed them heavily with bloodworms and plopped them both in there. No chimney, no hiding places. One evening and they were done. pH around 7.8 and hard water.
