follourdestiny - December 1, 2007 08:48 AM (GMT)
After a long day of my two favorite fish flirting they finally spawned. BUT... i'm worried because i don't think that all of the eggs came out. Actually I know they didn't. I want to leave her in there to see if my couple will finish the job but i'm scared that she'll eat them or he'll hurt her. It's late in Vegas and I want to sleep. Please help.

sometimes thats not the case with the female will get chased off by the male after they are done and she'll be too scured to come around the male and the nest. i'd leave her until she goes and hides after they spawned both of my 2 females that spawned successfully even help put eggs that the male didn't noticed back into the nest i'm not saying other females won't eat eggs cause i've spawned a male where he ate all eggs twice and i said forget it...you just kinda have to keep an eye on them kind of...but if it looks like they ain't botherin w/ eachother yea pretty much they're done...hopefully that helps other peeps here might have better answers for u...its early in da mornin here in cali my brain aint workin right  :congratulationtoyou on the spawn

Yeah, they're done. She's hugged up against the tank so i'm gonna move her over before work today. But it still worries me that she noticeably has eggs in her belly. That didn't happen last time and this is only my second spawn.
One more question.... my male betta seems to double wrap his nest and some of the eggs are in bubbles out of the water. What should I do??

are u using anythin for the nest to cling on per say foam cup, bubblewrap, plants, etc...cause bubbles do pop and he's always blowing more bubbles if the eggs are in da nest it's even better cause he doesn't have to worry about having to pick them up all the time...if the eggs sticc really good to the nest i wouldn't worry too much. i could be wrong since i'm not pro and ya'll can correct me if i'm wrong. i think ur doing great just keep up the good work soon enough u'll have wigglers! :wiggle

I wouldn't worry about it.
It it were dry enough to harm the eggs, it would be dry enough that the bubbles wouldn't hold.
If you are REALLY worried, you can put a peice of bubblewrap or saran wrap over the nest, if it is in a cup or something. Otherwise everything should be OK.
And some fish ake more eggs than others.
Is your female a crowntail? They almost always look ready to pop for some reason.
