In the hopes that I would not have to give up the plat line, I asked my club members if anyone had a plat male that they would be willing to give up.
There was silence.
BUT, and I am grateful for this, there is one very nice male from Jamaica bred to Stain. and the one plat I have from Sherry's line is also off of Stain.
If I do decide top maintain the plat line, he is going to be getting a lot of tail, lol.
In the meanwhile, I am going to breed Jamaica to Shaded Gem, who is from Sherry's line, and the game plan is to then breed any male from that spawn to Ricki.. which will bring Sherry's line back to the for.
Of course, there is a ton of other stuff going on there, genetic wise.. I mean, I have a GOLD male off Jamaica and Stain, which is not too surprising, considering that Stain is from Yellow/plat breeding, and Jamaica has yellow in him way back in his pedigree.
Sherry's line also carries yellow and gold, so this is going to be fun, if I am ever able to execute this plan.
With my NewYorker line.. Well, I have the Manny/Syo spawn, which is a bust, really.
All the females died, but for the squiggly female.
JenniferL even has 3 males.
I have three males, and the squiggly female.
BUT, I DO have half sisters off Manny and Tempest. Tempest herself is a cousin to the Manny males, as her father is a spawn mate to Manny. And there are the Jamaica/Tempest fry..
As for my red/black marble line.. I don't think I have anything to worry about there. I have several different spawns of different ages, from different lines, with one ready to jar. Also, Ember will be coming home soon, and I am going to breed her to one of her half brothers from the Cool line, (which is in danger of dying out, unlike the Hollywood line), and possibly one of her sons as well.
My purples are interesting. The purple sym breeding didn't work out for me, and unless Jill's are still living, that spawn was a complete bust. Seig DID say, however, that te sym line was getting too inbred. Even though the female was off a HM cross, it might still have been too close.
But Jills male to Ruths purple female is still going and looking good.
I have also, several spawn sisters to Ruth's girl. And last weekend, I bought two purple gas males to combat inbreeding. Though they were PetCo male,s and had obvious faults, they have the color.
I am assuming that these two males are brothers. They look too much alike for them to be anything other than.. but then they might not be.
Once I get pictures, I am sure that there will be no doubt as to their relationship to each other.
Then there is the lavender line.. I have not had much luck with these guys.. I am think of blending them into the purple line. At the moment, I have two females, and one male, which are closely related. They may even be spawnmates.
I don't really have anything to go into these guys.. Nor do I know what would work with them, and keep the color clean.
That leaves me my two blue lines.
I tried breeding the male and female I believe to be pure irrids, and she shredded him. Yes, Jazzin' For Blue Gene is no longer gorgeous.
Cam told me the frosted line were petite, and I believe it, because my guys are tiny, I mean, I don't think they have hardly grown sinse I got them, but for the one female.
I go ave two males to cross into this line.. One a DTPK, and the other a HM male.
Both these guys are metallics, and marble, so I should get what I want out of them.
I am just not in a big hurry to get them bred.
I am just going to do Jamaica right now. I have one, maybe two more spawns I want to get off him, and then he is retired to official desk fish.. The one female I really wanted to breed to him dropped dead, so I have an open slot for breeding him, maybe two.
This week, I am putting one of his daughters, and one of his nieces in super grow out mode. I am hoping that inside a month, I can get them to breeding size.
His daughter is almost there...
I just know I don't have much time with him.. He turns two the end of Feb.
So there you go, a short rundown of what has been happening in my fishroom.
