Has anyone ever tried getting copper oranges by spawning copper to orange and then doing F1? I may try this in the future.

Well, it HAS been done.
Check out the pedigree of my New Yorker Kids.
I got what I call peach metallics from that breeding, EVENTUALLY.
What you are likely to get at first is multis, as was gotten here. There might be two or three generations of multis, but then should reappear.
Oh, and when I bred that male to his sister, I got more peach metallics, so it is evident once the color comes back, (the orange) you have it.
