Title: Another great deal!
Description: 55 gallon tank (plus extras!) for $20!!!

Now admittedly, we keep a keen eye on Craig's list and FreeCycle for our area, so we're all the time picking up either good used aquariums for free, or for reasonable.
Today, my wife responded to an ad about "a 40 or 50 gallon and a 10 gallon aquairiums". She'd watched this listing that had previously included a few other small tanks and such, for a pretty hefty price. Then, she noticed that the ad said $50 for the "a 40 or 50 gallon and a 10 gallon" ... so she emailed the lady, got the address, and set a time for pick up.
Well, we got there, oh, I forgot, there's also a stand that holds two 10's ... anyway, we pull up and the couple have a somewhat disappointed look on their faces. We get out and the lady says "we don't know what happened to the 10 gallon tank". No problem ... THEN, I walk over to the "40 or 50" and see it's a 55, YES!!! Before I thought, I got all excited and told my wife "hot-dog, it's another 55!!!" Realizing that this is a "no-no" when trying to strike a bargain, I quickly move to the stand to inspect it. The lady has some assorted plastic plants (I'm not fond of plastic plants for my Bettas), a couple of air pumps (I'm a collector of airpumps, LOL!), and other odds-n-ends. Anyway, MrsSmitty asks "OK, so how much do you want for the aquarium and stand?". "How about $25 since we can't find the 10 gallon one?". My wife said "OK, if you have change", and the lady says "OH, don't worry about it, how about $20 and you take it all?" :WOU YES!!!
So, we got the 55 (in good shape too!!!) AND a stand for two 10's for $20 !!! :WOW:

Now, I just gotta' find somewhere to put it

Moral of the story, watch Craig's List and other ad listings for your area, as we've found some of the best deals on aquariums there ;)

Craigslist sucks in my area but I get tons of great stuff from freecycle and a local yahoo group called TopekaSales. I have so many free tanks (and tanks that I got super duper cheap) that it just aint funny. In fact I still have to set up the (FREE) rack I got with6 15 gallon tanks out in my garage.
Congrats on the good deal! :)
