Title: IBC Recognition

LaBella - October 7, 2007 09:44 PM (GMT)
I have nothing bad to say about VTs, I love them, they are the first long finned betta, and the start that most of us have.
In fact, I think I will be breeding my new VT Hershey with my other new VT Cheesecake.
He is a choc, obviously, and she is yellow and black marble. Or blue.. not exactly sure, lol.
IF I do that, I WILL be showing them in variations as Asymmetrical Long Fins.
I think it is about time that they receive their own show class.

EDIT:
I have split and pinned these, because I want to start a thread for those interesting in IBC recognition, in order to show their VTs.
This is not going to be an easy road, and there is going to be a lot of resistance to it with the "purists".
But I think this is a worthy goal, and I think that every one here who is IBC can help.
Putting my money where my mouth is, I WILL be breeding my two new VTs, in order to have fish ready for the start of the 08 show season.

The reason they don't have a class is because from it's inception the IBC has been breeding towards a symmetrical form.
BUT they do have the Variations class which is for fish that do not have their own show class for color or form. The metallics were in the class, oranges.. Symmetrical PKs were in that class, as were Crowntails, and they have all moved on to have their own class.
Right now, one of the more common fin types being shown in variations is the CYPK.
Well, there is nothing that says I can't show a VT.. Because they have Asymmetrical PKs, and because the HM is technically a symmetrical long fin. I am going to enter them as Asymmetrical Long fins, and I invite everyone to do the same.
If we all work together, there is no reason the VT can't have it's own class.
Just remember, colo9r counts as well as form..
Nate and I were discussing that before, what makes a good VT. What kind of tail is to be proffered...
That is just the details though, (no pun intended).
The main thing I think is to get this tail form legitimized as a valid shoe form. And fussing about it is not going to do anything.
We want the VT recognized by the IBC, then we have to make them recognize the VT, and the ONLY way to do that is to start showing your VTs.

Got my vote. As an IBC Member, I'll gladly do whatever I can to help promote / encourage / help get started, a VeilTail Show Class.
To me, there are just too many really beautiful VT's being bred by some of us US breeders, not to show 'em :D As you see, I'm breeding some fairly nice ones myself ;) :D :Y :P

I wonder, are VT's the only type of Betta currently without an IBC class to be judged in??? If so, then I just gotta' say ... hmmmmmm ...

No, right now, I know that we do not have a class for Giants, CTDTs, CTPKs, and DTPKs. They are all shown in the Variations class.
The idea is that if enough of them are shown, they will get a temporary class, and from there, they will go to a permanent class.
There are steps that have to be taken, there has to be shown that there is an interest in a class for these guys, and that is how you do it.
Start with form Variations... That is step one.

Abd for the record, I think we ribboned two VTs at the Conn show. in regular class.. but that was because according to Leo, they're form faults were less than the 4th place fish who were both tail biters.
