Title: My Setup

LaBella - September 24, 2007 04:12 PM (GMT)
First, I have The Rack..

All the way on top, I have a lot of my unused beanies, and 1 gallon tanks.. I don;t have a picture of them, because, well.. they are empty, lol.

Under that I have the pairs I have set up for breeding... in the order I want to breed them

Usually, they are just up there, hanging out, but when I am about to put a pair in the tank, I isolate them, so the only fish they can see are each other

Under that is the 20 long that Big Pimpin' owns.
He is lonely, poor, guy.. I might have to see if it is a possibility that one of the Sieg girls can handle him, cause he certainly isn't getting any smaller..

Under that is one of the 20 long growouts...
In this I have Gear/Halo fry, and Rick fry.

Under that on the floor is the snail tank, and a back up water bin..

Over to the side is a cabinet..
I have a bunch of fish in them as well..

This cabinet has 4 shelves, though I only use three of them for fish, the bottom shelf is supplies..
It holds 18 beanies per shelf.

Thanks for the pictures! I love seeing how others keep their bettas.

so can you keep bettas in beanie boxes vs a tank

LaBella - October 2, 2007 04:58 AM (GMT)
Yes you can. You just need to step up the water changes.
I prefer to keep the smaller fish in the beanie,s and move them up to CCWs or 1 gallon tanks as they get larger.. The thing about the larger tanks is I find I might get a little lazy with them, where as with the beanies especially, I don't play around with the water changes.
Now that they have plants, they are happier, that is for sure.
Also, I don't card them, so they get to have fun interacting with their neighbors. I try to be sure they have at least one of each gender to play with, and I am going to work on putting a PCV plumbing joint in each beanie for them to hide in when they don't feel like being bothered.
All in all, they all seem to be happy, except for Cadet, and he is just a putz.

Thanks I am getting four beanie boxes from a friend. I am also getting a platinum. I was planning on housing the new one in a beanie and changing the water every 3 days or so. I am also getting more java moss so he or she will have some place to rest and hide. i am planning on putting his beanie box next to Chilli so they can see each other

This is how you bleach out 5 tanks back to back.
Starting with the tank on the counter, I let it soak for about 20 minutes, and drained to the tank on the chair, and let that one soak for about 20.. Then the bleach water is being drained to the tan on the grey bin, which will be drained to the one on the white bin, which will then be drained to the one on the floor..
Then we get to do it all over again with the dechlor water, lol.
