yea they have great personalities this is the best shot i took...u guys are so nice how do you take such nice pictures. i wish i could get a shot at him flaring at the mirror from the side..but i was impatient because it took me an hour just to get any picture at all he did flare at the camera alot but he also swam away most of the time. the guy in my avatar as u prolly can tell is not the same guy he's much smaller an also a metallic green and he's about 2 months old. now i know how hard it is just to take pictures of these guys. i tried hours with not even a good setup...the camera is great i on the other hand need more work on my shooting skills i'm glad you guys like the picture :D

I really like that picture as well!

I am also glad that you were able to get some pictures up. :D

I really have no idea.
I put them in a beanie, which is 4 squared, so I know the range, and I manually set that, and I put a light right over top the beanie, and one coming from the side, if I can.
I have found that males flare differently for males compared to females, and it is easier to get a good shot using another male for a flare partner, because they do the Elvis thing too much and shake it a little too hard with they are flaring for a female.
I also take the pic right before I think it is going to be a perfect pic.
I use the portrait and macro settings.

hey thanks alot mumusuki yep ur help paid off greatly i could have never done it without you...the portrait setting for the camera how does that work or what does it do i think i do have it in my camera but i haven't used my camera for its full potential yet the macro settings are alil bit fuzzy for me cause when i focus on the shot the pic goes from blurry to clear and i simply dont understand how i can just make it clear...yea it'll prolly take alot of time before i take beautiful pictures like you guys do but i'm trying i thank you guys for all the tips and hints ! :flower

I have no idea what it DOES, but it is the profile of a poerson icon, or at least, that is what it looks like on my camera.
It fuzzes out like that, then comes back into focus, I think, because it is trying to get the focus of the picture right.
I am not sure, though, Nate is the camera dude, lol.
Putting more light on your pictures when your taking them might help, which reminds me, I usually turn off the flash.

The portrait mode is supposed to find the target/subject of the photo, and then blur out all of the background. However, the problem with this on my camera for example is that I can't take as close up shots as I want to. Meaning, I can't put it in Macro AND Portrait mode at the same time.

Hmmm, works perfect on mine.
Also, I use something like a 1600 pixel, and then crop down, which helps to preserve detail.

Those were pretty good. Be proud of yourself.
Another trick is to take the picture at an angle, and that helps you to not get camera reflection.
Those are two very nice fish. I can't wait to hear about them hitting the tank. I have a nice Ani male that is getting bred to one of my Cam females... as soon as the show season is over for 07.

i tried the different angles but da darn fishes won't keep still :OO i'm still an amateur. working with bettas and cameras is so difficult i wonder where you guys get the patients cause i get so frustrated and have to tell myself that they will co-operate just let them do whatever they want thanks alot labella for the comments i'll keep trying at taking better pics for ya'll to see :D

Well, the best thing to do is to limit the amount of space a fish has to move around in, which is why I use the beanies, and then I got even smarter, and started using only about 4 inches of water, further limiting where the fish can go.
The hardest pictures to take are ones in a tank, I think.

East Coast Bettas - September 24, 2007 08:07 PM (GMT)
Wow some really great pictures and a wonderful personality! Good luck with spawning these two!

blu3_sTr3akz - September 25, 2007 10:44 PM (GMT)
hey thanks eastcoast bettas yea i'm really x-ing my fingers on these 2
because i tried breeding him before and he was an egg eater
so hopefully this time around he's gotten wiser about the whole breeding process
and i can get some fries from him cause my other males are 2 young.
