Title: How Strange

LaBella - September 19, 2007 11:20 AM (GMT)
I was going through all of my fish this morning, and I have run into a mystery, though as I wrote that sentence, I solved part of the mystery..
I have a spawn, B07.A06 which is Hollywood bred to his daughter Shelley's Halo. I was looking at my records, and wondering why the numbers were not matching, but I just realized that I did have a male from that spawn die, Sneaky Pete I... BUT, I am still missing two fish from that spawn.
This was a small spawn, I only jarred 11.. Those 11 are LA Angel, check, Elysian Sky, check, Sneaky Petes I and II, check, and an un named male that I gave to a friend at convention.
I just found the body of one of the females.. and that leaves me with 3 females.. BUT my records show another female, and one I was not sure if it was going to be a male or a female.
I am wondering now, if they might have been the runts that died on me a couple months back.
This is why having complete records is needful, and why updating your records as things happen, instead of trying to rely on your memory is a must.
At this point, I have no other option but to mark them as dead, though I COULD have possibly given them away.. I just don't know.

aliens

LaBella - September 19, 2007 01:42 PM (GMT)
No, I think the aliens are innocent this time.
I vaguely recall having two runts from some spawn, and they just would not thrive, and ended up dying, but I can't for the life of me recall what spawn they were from..
I have the funny feeling they were from this spawn.. BUT I am not certain, and if they were not, then where did they come from, lol.

aliens

LaBella - September 19, 2007 02:53 PM (GMT)
No, I am pretty sure it wasn't aliens THIS time. besides, they were too busy bringing me back my pulex.
See, I had daphnia, and right after I traded some off to one of Haeun's friends, all of mine disappeared.
I mean, just a straight die off... or WAS IT??
Because in a tank that did NOT have daphnia in it, I now have a burgeoning colony... But the scuds that were in it are now missing.
Also, in that same tank, I had snails... Briggs.. and they make obvious clutches.. and somehow I have teeny tiny purple brigg babies in this tank that never had an egg clutch in it.
Actually, they aren't so teeny tiny, they are about the size of the head of a hat pin..

Never a dull moment in your fish room!

East Coast Bettas - September 19, 2007 03:38 PM (GMT)
I think it's one of them gremlins (The Bugs Bunny kind, not the Furry kind)

Never a dull moment in your fish room!

Unfortunately..
You know I have three unknown fry.. I have no idea who they are, or where they come from. And they can be one of 4 spawns...
I have had whole spawns go missing.. Now I have a mysterious clutch of briggs, and pulex swimming around in my water, missing scuds, missing fish... Oh, and not to mention one of my fish nearly scared himself to death, literally.
On moment he was fine the next, he turned colors, and was floating on his side.
I had to put him in a cup until he got his equilibrium back, which thankfully he did. Amd he is fine now.. Neither of us know what happened to him.
My fishroom is a hotbed of odd activities, lol.

After careful analysis of the happenings of your fish room. I think... it's ghosts, not aliens. Especially after the nearly scared himself to death situation.
I think your fishroom is haunted.

LaBella - September 20, 2007 02:19 PM (GMT)
Hmmmm.... That IS a thought.

bettaqueen - September 20, 2007 08:12 PM (GMT)
Sorry to hear about the weird happenings in your fish room. Bella can I have a couple of the purple briggs when they get big enough?

LaBella - September 20, 2007 11:54 PM (GMT)
Eh,m it isn't anything that I am not used to, lol. It is more anoying than anything.
Sure, when they get big enough.

davenia7 - October 4, 2007 03:36 PM (GMT)
So, any new ghostly occurrences lately.
I do sooooo look forward to hearing your aliens/ ghosts stories.

LaBella - October 4, 2007 04:14 PM (GMT)
Well I did have a whole spawn disappear while I was at the show.
Not that it was a large spawn, like 7 fry.. but they were in a 1 gallon tank, and big enough that I should have seen bodies.. They were like 1/4th an inch.
Nothing at all was in the tank.
I also had a miracle healing.
I have a nice Seig male that OVERNIGHT when from a healthy happy male to a dying male. His fins were melting off him.. and I agressively treated him with EVERYTHING.
And then the worst thing that could happen happened.
He threw his slime coat.
I was telling Nate, that's it, he's dead..
But he didn't die, and then he started getting better, but I had to go to convention.
I told Nate..
He is going to be dead when I get home..
But he wasn't.
He is alive and well, and eating and I am pretty sure he is going to make it!!!
I have decided to name him Milagro

davenia7 - October 8, 2007 01:09 PM (GMT)
These fish just drive us to madness.

LaBella - October 8, 2007 07:28 PM (GMT)
Yeah, Milagro is ill again, not eating..
So he is back on meds.
But I have hope, because while he was eating, I was stuffing his face, lol.
I have put him on Maracyn two and trisulfa this time.

davenia7 - October 10, 2007 01:33 AM (GMT)
I hope he perks up... I blame it on the ghosts.

LaBella - October 13, 2007 07:12 AM (GMT)
Well, Milagro only had one miracle coming to him, I guess..
But get this, I know you'll find this strange enough.
I was bleaching out a few tanks, and one of the tanks was bleached, and dechlored, and I put it on the stove to get it out of the way for the moment.
Well, I lost track of time, and then a neighbor came over.
It was only the two of us, and out of no where, we heard a CRACK!!
We both turn to look at the stove, where the tank was and the STOVE WAS ON!!!
I have an electric range, by the by.
And mind you, neither of us were near the stove, none of the kids came into the kitchen.
Somehow the stove turned on. And the heat broke the glass... Well, the tank was right on the burner, but still, no one turned the thing on!!!!
So now I am one less a 10 gallon.

davenia7 - October 15, 2007 12:09 PM (GMT)
If you were close by, I'd give you the 20L that's just sitting on my back porch right now.
But, by and by, too far to go.
