He has turned into a pretty good betta, in my opinion. I just can't decide if I want to keep him or not.

Opinions please!

Keep him or get a good price for him. LOL

I still can't decide! I have been staring at him for like 5 minutes just trying to decide if I want to keep him...

Greentetra - August 22, 2007 09:38 PM (GMT)
I would keep him. He's turning out to be a nice lookin' boy. ^_^

I really like him, but he is plagued with a SMALL spine deformity, like most of his siblings, and his caudal edges are more rounded than some of his other siblings.

However, he IS a marble male, which has ended up being rare in this spawn. Most of the males I have are solid colored, and there are some solids that have REALLY good form.

Well, to me, his deformities would keep me from breeding him. So it would be a matter of keeping him as a pet or selling him.

Mumusuki - August 22, 2007 11:33 PM (GMT)
Alright, off to Aquabid he goes. :Y

If this guy is marbled, it's more than likely that his siblings carry marble. You can get a marbled betta out of two solid colored fish. If marble is what you are looking for, spawn two of his siblings that have the best confermation and see what you get, and you are more than likely to get a few good marbled fish out of that with the better body form. Or you can just keep him and see what you get!

Here are some better pictures I just took:

The last picture shows the problems he has with his spine.

There is no doubt that the solid sibs carry marble the sire is marbled.
I say sell him. skeletal deformities in dogs and horses are the hardest thing to correct, I would thnk it would be just as hard in fish.
Why give yourself more to work with when you have good form that will give you what you want in the next generation.

The little bobble isn;t too big a deal, the issue is the short face, really.
I am just glad he blossemed for you, and you'll be able to hopefully place him easier.

Mumusuki - August 23, 2007 02:48 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I would NEVER have thought he would have gotten as good as he has. That is why I was originally selling him for pretty cheap. ;)

Well said Jamie! Duh. I didn't think about making that point.
:D

Yeah, his short face is the biggest issue for me. Though he did turn out to be quite the cutey. I say you've made the best move. At least someone will get him who want a darling little guy to enjoy.

Awesome! Congrats, he's a cute little devil. But you made the right decision. Getting the ideal body lines back is a very daunting task.
