Title: Attack of the Spotty Boys
Betta Belle - June 28, 2006 06:02 AM (GMT)
Here are a few of my VT boys.
These are the dal boys that made me finally run out there and find the HM in their color.
The originator of the HM form calls them orange Dalmations, but the VT version has been being called aprocot spots...
The thing is, I've a few that are not apricot, lol.
The pices were taken at different times with different cameras, so they are different sizes.
Dirty Harry

The Tick

Dapple

Sunny Boy

Rocky

Streak

Arrow

Now I know why you are a NR queen. LOL
:lolo: :lolo:
OK. I am going to make a banana cake today!! WOU WOU!! With walnuts. :lolo:
Betta Belle - June 28, 2006 07:59 PM (GMT)
Well SOMEONE had to be the NR Queen, and I decided it would be me.
I used to be the VT Queen once upon a time, but I have thinned the herd, so to speak.
Now I have the 6 oranges, the 5 yellows, the peach metallics, and cambos from ex red crossed with yellow. I have two pinky yellow boys that are from orange/ metallic/yellow/marble breeding And their cambo sisters.
Even my plats carry NR marble.
And my bi coloreds also are orange carriers.
I have only one fish that does not have NR in her, as far as I know, that is my opaque female... Even the PK female being sent to ECB is from red breeding, lol.
And that's not even including the spotty boys, lol.
Synirr - June 29, 2006 04:12 AM (GMT)
Wow, you have so many of them!! They're all lovely
I really like it when they have blue on them also, blue and orange go together well
Karah's_Mommy - June 29, 2006 06:38 AM (GMT)
They look just like my Peaches!! I just love them all!
Ayelleye - June 29, 2006 10:48 AM (GMT)
Wow, quite a collection of beautiful Veiltails there. I have never seen that kind of colouring in any of the petshops around here!!
Betta Belle - July 1, 2006 08:25 PM (GMT)
Well they run rampant at Walmart, lol.
Except for a few that I am keeping for life (Tick, Sunny Boy, Dapple, Koi Boi), I am moving some of the VT crew out.
I have bunches and bunches, lolol.
You want spotty boys, I will buy them for you, and send them to you...
OF you can wait until my HMs breed, lol.
Ayelleye - July 2, 2006 09:27 AM (GMT)
Oh wow, I would take you up on that offer, except I live in Australia. It gets worse than that too, I live in Tasmania, its' a smallish heart shaped island at the bottom of Aus. I looked into getting some nice fish off Aquabid but getting them into this state is a nightmare.
I will keep my eyes open, I have picked up some very nice crowntail boys and was lucky enough to grab a double tail girl at pet shops.
Betta Belle - July 3, 2006 06:02 AM (GMT)
I know where Tasmania is, I have an obsession with the Tazy Tiger, I keep hoing they find soem breeding somewhere one day
There is an Aussie transhipper, but I don't know that it would be worth it
If you can find her, and work something out with her, I will GIVE you a few of my orange dals, when I have some to give, lol.
You just handle the shipping.
OR you can see what sawarut, the breeder of my avatar fish has to offer.
siamimbellis.com.
Ayelleye - July 3, 2006 10:50 PM (GMT)
Heh, one of my friends dad swears he saw a Tasmanian Tiger about four years ago. Of course it was the only time he was out in the bush without his camera!!
I have been in touch with the Australian transhipper Jodi Lea, getting fish to the Mainland (or big island), Sydney isn't an issue just getting them down to Tassie, no couriers will ship live fish into the state. It takes longer to get a fish from Sydney to Tasmania that it does to get from Singapore to Syndey!! I could get a petshop here to get some in on their shippment list but it would cost an arm and a leg and I would only be able to order off their order sheet. I am still finding out as much as I can, and I am also applying for a tropical fish breeders licence. Tis all very complicated as Tasmania is so isolated from the rest of the world you need licences for damn near everything!! not to mention all the prohibited animals, ie snakes and lizards, that you can't get or keep here.
Tassie used to be fox free too, until two or three years ago when one was seen where they unlaod cargo off ships, now there are fox sightingsall over the state and they are getting dead ones off the raod after being struck by cars.
Sorry for the ramble, I envy all you guys in the States as tank prices are so cheap and the vast array of fish available. Enjoy it all for me hey.
Betta Belle - July 4, 2006 11:07 AM (GMT)
Well if you can build your own tanks, that would be a help, I am sure.
To build a 1 gallon tank, it is nothing but the cost of the acrylic sheet, the cutter, and the sealant.
If you have a home repair store, you ahould be able to get things at a decent price.
I am too tired to think straight, otherwise I would post my link to DIY tanks, and if I remember after the big Independance Day celebration, I will try to find it, and post it for you.
Get that liscence, I am sure that there will be many people quite happy to send stuff your way!
Ayelleye - July 4, 2006 02:25 PM (GMT)
My hubby has built a couple of tanks a long time ago. I think they were big 6 foot tanks too, I should get him to work!! :P
The licence is in the works, I need it to be able to sell any Bettas I breed to petshops. I just need to work out all the fine details.
Betta Blossoms - July 6, 2006 11:02 PM (GMT)
aww, reminds me of my first spotty boy,

If I still had him i would have sent him to you lol but, alas, he has alreayd been sold..but my walmart usualy has a bunch, just not as good as the one I got..and I LOVE your yellow spotted one!!!
Betta Blossoms - July 6, 2006 11:04 PM (GMT)
err..anyone want to tell me how to make the pictures smaller? i'm not used to doing the pics..I'm usually a link person
Betta Belle - July 8, 2006 04:42 AM (GMT)
Well if they are above a certain size in photobucket, photobucket will automaticaly resize them.
To get them to stay the size you want, you can resize them on your hard drive, them upload the new sizd pics.
If you don't have a photoeditor, search for IrfanView, and download it.
It is a pretty good basic photo editor.
Oh, and I can't see your pics, again. And I really wanted to see them, I like the spotty boys, in case you didn't realize it.
Sunny Boy is one of my favorites. It is because of him that I am going to try to breed yellow dalmations, and I have everything in place that I need to do it... The only problem is that my yellows all carry marble and I don't know to what extent it may mess my colors up.
Betta Blossoms - July 8, 2006 07:18 PM (GMT)
lol, heres the link to the album with him :
Clicky
Betta Belle - July 9, 2006 09:10 AM (GMT)
Wow, the orange boy had a very nice spread on him, but I just LOVED the color of the pink boy.
The first one looked try banded to me, and he was STILL a very nice fish.
Shoot, what walmart you getting these guys from?
I may have to move next to you, lolol.
Betta Blossoms - July 9, 2006 09:51 PM (GMT)
I bred the first boy, he earned the name Mr.Bubbles because he love blowing bubbles so much lol, and i guess according to the girl that took him, he looks 100% different! I realy want to stop by sometime and see him :)...
oh, and look at the boy i picked up today ^_^
Betta Belle - July 10, 2006 04:12 AM (GMT)
Oh he is PURDY!!!!!
I have always and will always have aplc in my heart for the VTs
bettaseverywhere - August 7, 2006 10:38 PM (GMT)

bettaqueen - August 11, 2006 11:46 PM (GMT)

LaBella - August 12, 2006 12:06 AM (GMT)

I actually have two whol fry form Koi Boi growing out, right now...
He was a bad dady and ate the babies, booo.
bettaqueen - August 18, 2006 10:02 PM (GMT)
Bella did you name Tick after the cartoon unsuperhero?
LaBella - August 20, 2006 08:28 AM (GMT)
Well yeah, and that he has this silver spot right in front of his dorsal, looks like a tick is stuck to him.
bettaqueen - August 21, 2006 10:46 PM (GMT)
how cute . I used to love that cartoon. Perfect name for him then
LaBella - August 25, 2006 02:09 AM (GMT)
I thought so, as soon as I saw him, I was on shift, so I had to hide him until I got off work before I could buy him.
bettaqueen - August 25, 2006 04:05 PM (GMT)
LaBella - August 25, 2006 04:27 PM (GMT)
At the time, I was a WalMart slave.
bettaqueen - August 25, 2006 05:02 PM (GMT)
you never know how knowledgable a wallmart fish person is. you might get a suprise and find a fish professor like you. the wallmart by me has a one guy who is very knowledgable about the fish. In fact he talked to me for about 15 minutes one day about bettas and I could tell he knew what he was talking about. I have asked him questions about goldies when I had them and he knew what he was talking about then too.
LaBella - August 25, 2006 05:07 PM (GMT)
Well I was chashiering, stock and cusomer service, and I loved it.
I actually do more fish stuff just shopping there than I did working there, lol.
Matt - December 28, 2006 01:53 PM (GMT)
the chat kinda swayed off-topic but still very nice colour of bettas. And yes, I would also expect that shipping bettas out to Tasmania would be a hassle and cause a lot of problems
bettaqueen - December 28, 2006 03:41 PM (GMT)
Yup we often do that here, sway off topic that is but we always have fun at it :C2
LaBella - December 29, 2006 08:52 PM (GMT)
Oh yeah, all the time.
We try to stay on topic, but eh.. well..
We aren't a big stickler for that here..
And thank you for the fish complements.
