I was just finished labeling the jars and I see that one of the males is laying on it's side at the bottom of the tank, not moving. Then I see him struggle to get air at the top.
He is still alive, but his gills are sticking straight out. The gills aren't moving like they are supposed to. He is still alive but looks dead.

HELP!!

I had just fed him. I think he is choking on a pellet.

HOW CAN I HELP HIM!!!

As you can see, his gills were popped open.

He was one of my keepers from the spawn... his fins were amazing. :(

I honestly don't know how to help a fish that is choking on a pellet.
I have thought that if you have a small enough stick, you could push it in the gills, and poke it out of the mouth, but that is just conjecture.

ive had that happen mumu i tried to get mine out but ended up killing it anyhow so what ya gonna do yano ? :hug:

He died pretty fast. I don't think I would have been able to help him. But can't you tell, he was a beautiful fish and his finnage was amazing when he was flaring.

What terrible loss, he was a pretty fish.

OH MY! I am so sorry to hear and see this happen. Those pictures want to make me cry. I've had smaller fish choke on worms and such but never pellets. Again I am sorry. :o

Oh no! I'm sorry, Mumu! It's a scary and frustrating feeling to watch a betta die in front of you. I understand that helpless feeling. I'm sorry you had to experience it. He was a beautiful fish.
