Well Im looking for a Care sheet of info for new fish keepers. The reason being my cousin is having a wedding and they are having bettas as center pieces.... :( I found out this weekend and there is nothing i can do to stop them. its 2 weeks away. I have decided to go to the wedding with medication and food. I'm also hoping to bring a sheet with betta care info on it. Does any one know a good place? Or maybe we can make up one ourselves???
I'm afraid I may just end up bringing 50 of them home with me....
here is some excellent things leafgirl it is @ betty splendens

Leafgirl, that's too bad they are going to do that, but it is their wedding. I've seen and heard stories of bettas getting knocked over, alcohol poured in their containers, and bettas put together for amusement. Chances are pretty darn good few will survive much beyond a month. Hopefully you'll be able to enjoy the wedding reception without spending all your time protecting the bettas. I don't intend on knocking the links Greentetra, Palor and Newdayrising suggested, but I'm not so sure they would be appropriate for a wedding setting. The petfish.net link puts up a red flag about just adding the salt to the bowl. I've seen salt burns on the bellies of fish that have nowhere to rest except on the undissolved salt.
My suggestion would be to make up LOTS of little notes to leave lying around all over that say a greeting to the well being of the bride and groom. Better yet, a thank-you note from the couple for sharing the day. You could use paper the colors of their wedding. (eg. what color are the bridesmaid's dresses?) On the flip side a link to whatever site (hint-hint *Unique Bettas*) as well as links like Greentetra, Palor and Newdayrising suggested. Very short, very simple. Otherwise they won't read it or remember it. One gallon minimum aquarium/bowl, fresh dechlorinated water weekly, feed minimally daily.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.
Thanks every on for the links and nutty's advise!! Im going to do that i think :)
I guess ill see what happens at the weding...
Well i just got home from the wedding. It was yesterday... I guess it whent ok, could have been worce. I guess there where only 20 fish thankfully! Most got homes to people i have no idea who they are.... but i could not do anything about it. But i did talk to some and emailed them info. I took 2 home with me. One that no one wanted because he was sick(hes got a beter chance with me) and one other that looks healthy. They all looked decent.
