What did you put him in when you moved him?
maybe you should get a 10, use that for breeidng, and give him his iold tank back.
The fact is, unless you end up with only 5 fry, you are going to need to move to a 10 anyway.
If he is eating, just keep an eye on him. I have noticed, though that older fish will sometimes developed a weird look to the mouth area.
I don' know why, either.

I know that older fish can get "depressed" when they are moved... sometimes this can suppress their immune system, and make them sick.
My plato did this to me and I almost lost him...but now he's handsome as pie and were gonna "try" babies soon, even if he is almost 3. Buncha naysayers...
:D

What size tank did you move him to? Is it heated? Temp? Lit? Salt?
Is he just pouting? Does he have plants?

Be on the look out for an internal infection. Check his poo, is it white and stringy?
If so, he's gonna need some treatment.
Though many don't like to use meds, I used Betta Revive on plato when I couldn't pin down what was wrong with him.
It's an all-in-one treatment for bettas... helped me.
There's a sticky about it.

Also, try getting a small mirror and leaving it beside his tank for 10-20 minutes a coupke times a day and see what that will get you, especially once you determine if he is sick or not.
