Title: What do y'all think?

SandyMushCowgirl - June 29, 2007 06:33 PM (GMT)
Ok, so I have a pair of my juvies ready for the breeding tank. They'll be an F2. The father was my Copper Black/Platinum marble HMPK, and the female a Copper Trad. PK.
Here's the female's linage.

---------------- Opaque STPK ------------------------- Orange STPK

Copper Trad PK.

I don't know the male's linage (I sure wish I did though), but what do y'all think the outcome might be like? I would like to see some marbles, but I don't know. I actually have two different pairs of juvies that I will eventually spawn. So I can work on two lines.

This is going to be a lot of fun...
You can get...
Green/red.. maybe be wild type coloration, not sure without pics
Copper
Opaque
Platinum
Orange
Black
Red

And any of the above in combination with the others in a marble form, with or without BF.
The good news is all the tails will be short, though they will prolly run the gamut from Trad to Show.

I would sure love to see more orange from this line. That line is where Silver Penny came from, and he used to have orange only it faded. I'd like to spawn him with the HM girl I got from Ruth a while back. Ya' know, one of her relatives came from your HM line.

Well, I guess I'll find out what I'll get in a couple months. I'm hoping that the mother had the marble gene, actually she must have, I got ONE marble. So hopefully they'll all carry the marble gene since the sire was marbled.

Okay, here's pictures. This is the top half of the line. The mother of my juvies is the last picture. Penelope. The copper and cambodian and orange are not my fish and I cannot take credit for those pictures... Two of them, the copper and the cambodian are synirr's and the orange belongs to someone down in TX.

Ruth and I have at least two lines in common.
One is the New Yorker line.
Her Mael comes from that, and I have the spawn brothers Manny, Jamaica, and Bronx is being returned to me.
Harlem was also from that spawn, as was Yonkers, and Brooklyn.
Yeah, can you tell I liked that breeding, lol.,
We also share lines with Shelly's fish.
The father of her Revlon was a spawn mate to Hollywood and company, and a half brother to Throttle dad...

I am sorry, I am trying to, and I just can't follow your pedigree, lol.

Sorry for the double post.

Here's the bottom part of the line.

Wow that is quite a genetic blend. What exactly are you trying for? Copper orange? Or just continuing the line? Pretty fish either way.

SandyMushCowgirl - June 30, 2007 04:41 PM (GMT)
Mainly just continuing the line, but attempting the get copper marbles, and copper/black and orange marble, and copper orange would be an interesting color..
However this, the copper/black and orange marble, is the color I want to achieve one day, and the orange not to fade and the color to breed true.

I'm contemplating a spawn between Penelope's brother and an orange HMPK female that I have, to see if I can't get some more orange from this line..

East Coast Bettas - June 30, 2007 05:27 PM (GMT)
That would be very interesting to see! To carry on a line as far as you have so far, you might as well reap the benefits!

SandyMushCowgirl - June 30, 2007 07:03 PM (GMT)
LOL.. That's what I figure...

wildmagiclady - June 30, 2007 07:50 PM (GMT)
Ok, I'm trying to understand the pedigree too and just can't quite grasp how it works.
I'll try some more.

wildmagiclady - June 30, 2007 07:54 PM (GMT)
Nope, I give. I can't figure it out. Maybe if you seperate it by one generation per post, then I can get it.

But basically, what Belle said on colors. I don't really see much at all that is going to get you much orange though. The only one I really see showing orange and not red is that one female. Copper and metallics are dominant so they may just squeeze the orange totally out of the line.

I'd say you'll be pretty much guaranteed on the marble gene. From all I've ever heard or read it's pretty near impossible to get rid of!
:lolo:

SandyMushCowgirl - June 30, 2007 08:07 PM (GMT)
Well, that's what I've heard, but so far it's not been very promising... :P

Ok, here goes. The orange PK female is the mother of the cambodian DTPK female, the cambodian female was bred to the metallic copper male. The cellophane male and green/red female came from that spawn. They were bred together for the other copper male and the copper/black and orange marble, which were bred together for the copper female (Penelope), and Silver Penny (who also used to be copper/black and orange marble), who was bred to my Copper Black/Platinum marble HMPK male who's gene's I know nothing about... Does that help any?
