Title: Albino spawn
Synirr - June 14, 2006 05:03 AM (GMT)
Just set up the tank today, wish me luck! :D
The male can't see very well, but he does know the female is there and is showing off. I put two styrofoam cup halves so he could choose which he liked, I'll take the other out once he picks one. I'm hoping he'll build his own nest, but Uriel my VT will be more them happy to contribute some bubbles if not, he has supplied bubbles in the past when spawns needed them and always has a nice big nest handy (I knew he was good for something) :)
5 gallon tub to make it easier for the male to find the female; I usually use a 10 gallon

Shaded from the light

Male

Sibling female, she is SO CUTE!

EDIT: Better pic of the male, that one is kinda crappy :P

Synirr! I used the same tupperware to breed too. LOL :lolo: I am setting up 4 tupperwares for this weekend spawning.
I am also using those white plastic net(bettamomma used to dividing the tank with) dividing the tupperware into half after 12 hours together in the tupperware. This will force the female to lay her eggs fast. Mine always work and the girls have no place to hide. She will obey to breed with the male fast since she already ready to laid her eggs. . LOL ;)
So here is a tips. :) Don't do it in the beginning. The male are more agressive in the beginning with the girl. :D
Now I am really hope you can breed them together. CROSSING FINGERS!!!

Wow this is really exciting! Albinos are rare in the betta hobby and to breed a pair is a great accomplishment. Good luck Synirr and remember to keep us updated on the progress :D

I had to separate them as I was gone over the weekend to go apartment hunting, but I'll try again soon :). The breeder I got the albino from has found another albino, this time female, in his growout tank, from the same spawn my male came from, so the line definitely carries the gene! I may get the female too, it depends on how much he wants for her.

Don't breed this pair then. Go get her and breed her with him. ;)

Haha, I don't think that would happen Yeevia, they wouldn't be able to see each other! :OO
At least one of them has to be able to see worth a crap to breed, lol. I think they were raised outside in the sun, if I were to raise a spawn in the dark they would have better vision, so maybe the next time around I could breed albino to albino.
Look, the breeder sent pics :D

Well look at that boy.
Yeeves, you need to get babies off of him for your one albino eyed girl.
He'slovely, and I love the little bit of BF he's trying to have going on there.
Good luck on that spawn.
If you get it to work, you know there is a ready market for those babies.
