Title: Raising fry with dad.
Description: A question

Hi, I have a near 7 week old spawn of 380+ Crown tail x Veil tail that the dad has raised very well.
Because he is there, there has been no fighting/biting each other. At what age should I start jarring the biggest ones? I want to keep them all together in the 25 gallon tank for as long as possible as twice weekly water changes are alot easier than cleaning 100+ jars
Will the males in the spawn develop the longer fins while with the dad, or stay short finned until seperated and jarred?
I hope Yeevia sees this as he is the only other person I have come across that has done the dad and babies sucessfully.

Oh here are a couple of pics

Great pictures you got there finally. Yes, that is what I like to see. The crowntail male is very pretty and a nice choice to using him as a stud. In the future, do look for a crowntail female that had the same color as the male.
As for your questions, I can take out the daddy when they are 1/2" to 3/4" long. He had done his job very well and ready to breed anytime. Therefore, go find a female crowntail for him and keep breeding. Since you got 380 babies, you might as well get ready for a 55 gallon tank. I don't think 25 gallon is enough room for 380 babies. Like 0.0657 gallon for one betta.
As for this spawns, I would says you going to get combtail. They are nice too and still people love to have them because they looks different than veiltail but not as fancy as crowntail. As they grow up, you will see the tail starting to get long especially they body is around near 1" long in male. I hope this help. :)
Congratulation on your first successful. :)

Thanks for that, I have a female crowntail for him next time, she just needs to grow up abit. This spawn was really just a test that I didn't expect to get any babies from!!
I live in Australia, well the little heart shaped island at the bottom, Tasmania. All the local pet shops around here can't keep a stock of Bettas in as they are so popular. So the babies will all find homes through them.
